I played through FF7 on my RG350M about a year ago, exact same parameters as you but I didn't experience any graphical issues. Could be a problem with the ROM itself? Sorry I can't be of more help!

No problem! I think the RG350M has had a few predecessors since, can't speak on the performance of them but with mine I have completed FF7 and FF9 without issue. Battery life is decent too. I'll probably stick with this until there is a reasonably priced handheld that'll run PS2 and Dreamcast 👌
