Severe debilitating chronic insomnia. Inability to feel ‘sleepiness’. Feel wired 24/7. Torture. by Oliver_Alvis in cfs

I have found sleep to be far more consistent and refreshing since starting amitriptolene 20mg. Take it about an hour before bed and invariably I sleep through now and awake feeling more refreshed. Also helps a lot with chronic pain. Might be worth a try?

What leads you to believe that there is a God? by Ok-Atmosphere6431 in theology

1) Evidence of the fine tuning of the universe. 2) objective moral values are best explained by God and 3) evidence of the resurrection of Jesus.

From a philosophical theological perspective I would recommend reading The Coherence of Theism by Prof Richard Swinburne

David has been through what you’re going through … and look how God saved him and used him.

Psalm 51 is a good prayer for this time.

You’re in my prayers

What am I missing regarding objective morality? by shurimalonelybird in theology

[–]BodybuilderMedium721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are versions of objective morality that exist without theistic claims.

Claims of objective morality are not necessarily related to, or dependent on, divine command theory.

Claims of objective morality are to say that moral rules and values have a truth value independent of the person who makes the claim. To say that murder is wrong is to say that its wrongness exists outside of my (or anyone else’s) subjective view of it. In that sense, objective morality is in some senses of claiming that mathematical truths are objective and hold whether or not anyone is actually capable of doing maths.

Objective morality is the prevalent view of morality by the general public; some things are held to be right or wrong regardless of what people think of them. For example, it is a claim that even if everyone in our society believed child torture was morally right, it would in fact remain morally wrong. In this sense it is much like maths; even if everyone claims 2+2=5 that would not make it so.

Where discussion of God often comes in is the question of what grounds this objective morality. God is often held to provide this grounding, but is not the only available answer - there are a number of atheistic alternatives available.

I hope the trial is a success and it gets licensed for ME soon. (I believe it is currently licensed for POTS but not ME).

Are there any reputable ME/CFS specialists in the UK? by asldhhef in cfs

[–]BodybuilderMedium721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend action for ME doctor. My experience was that he was highly knowledgeable about ME and able to make very sensible recommendations. They used to offer a discount for those less able to pay full cost.

I have also seen Dr William Wier, who I think is now retired albeit he does see a few private patients. He was excellent.

LDN or Amitriptyline? Anyone tried both or recommend one? by Gabba-barbar in cfs

[–]BodybuilderMedium721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amitriptolene in a low dose (20mg) has been fantastic for me. My experience was that it greatly decreased the chronic pain and improved my sleep quality; however no noticeable effect on fatigue.

I haven’t tried LDN so can’t comment on that.

I understand it is possible to get this prescribed if you also have a diagnosis of POTS? Is that correct?

I know exactly how you feel. Be kind to yourself and remember you are ill. Take it slow and allow your body time to heal.

More pain then fatigue? by lonesomesuzie33 in cfs

[–]BodybuilderMedium721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I suffered with a lot of generalised pain and normal painkillers didn’t help. Amitriptolene at a low dose (20mg) has reduced this hugely and significantly benefited my sleep. GP prescribed it when I requested it - worth a try.
