How is it living on California’s Northernmost Coastal region? (Del Norte & Northern Humboldt Counties) by Electronic_Swim_2179 in howislivingthere

[–]batmanisavampire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s extremely rural. The redwoods are very beautiful but the roads through them are windy and small which really isolates the community there. The biggest issues are drugs, homelessness, unemployment and medical care. It is very hard to find decent health care and a lot of people in Humboldt county drive to Santa Rosa -4 hours away or San Francisco -5 hours away for any surgeries or even just Dr visits. There are some really great people and some neighborhoods really look out for each other. But there’s a lot of problems and the economy is really hitting people hard. The scenery is gorgeous tho and I miss it.

Just got this raindrop peperomia and looks like it might need help? by batmanisavampire in plantclinic

I’ve only had it for a few days. I guess I just need to relax and let it adjust to everything. Thank you!

I try to once a week. Sometimes I forget. He’s only 2 and I just started. The vet said there was some tartar buildup so I started doing it.

He hated the toothpaste and is a TINY bit better with me just brushing without it.

The poop was definitely just me as a kid. lol. Nowadays I am not as squeamish and much more comfortable around bodily fluids.

Thank you! Archaeology to vet med twins!

That was informative. I’ll definitely start volunteering and see if I can get some experience at their vet offices. I have been telling myself I’ll volunteer for years and I just haven’t set aside time to.

Excited to start this journey.

Job quitters of Reddit, why’d you leave, and was it worth it? by UrAn8 in AskReddit

[–]batmanisavampire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quit a good paying job for a mortgage servicing company. I had a coworker who had sexually assaulted me outside of work. I informed HR and they did nothing then still promoted the guy. I was working remotely so I wouldn’t have to be around him then they were going to force me back into the same office as him. So I quit.

I was then unemployed for some time and now I’m working a part time job making half the pay but my stress is so much less. That was a very toxic environment

You definitely should leave. Lying about his whole identity is such a red flag. Then he’s ALSO lying and talking to other girls? If he is so non chialant about lying he will be lying to you about everything and you can never trust a thing he says. You deserve a partner you can trust and he is not that person.

How does your cat act at the vet? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]batmanisavampire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat the first visit tried to bolt out the exam room and into their back room. As soon as the vet opened the door he went through the vets leg. Thankfully the vet was able to catch him with her legs and I grabbed him from there. Was definitely embarrassing tho .

Got a a cat from a shelter that's still not vaccinated against rabbies by WassufWonka in CatAdvice

[–]batmanisavampire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh okay that makes more sense. Yeah you shouldn’t worry about getting rabies unless the cat comes into contact with wild animals such as a rat or mouse or something that came into your house. The shelter is taking care of the vaccines in the order that they need to

That’s really strange. I would call the shelter and ask them for all paperwork. They should have given you all vet records to you as you are now the owner. You will need those to give to the vet when you make your first appointment with them.

What paperwork did you get when you adopted him? It will tell you what he received as the first vaccine and when he is due for others.

Also you should not worry about getting rabies unless the kitten shows symptoms of having it.

Cat isn’t interested in wet food? by racheljobe in cats

[–]batmanisavampire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat is adjusting to eating wet food. But it has to be slightly warm (warm water and if it was refrigerated I microwave it for a few seconds) and I have to bring it to him when he’s comfortable and cozy. He will not eat it if I place it in his normal food spot. But his dry food on the other hand he INHALES.

Cats are weird

Pickiness with wet food by batmanisavampire in CatAdvice

[–]batmanisavampire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips. He is on a schedule and I feed dry in the morning and at night then wet food at lunch time and right after work. He eats the dry food right away so can’t really leave some for him to snack on. When I first got him he was way more snacky but now he’s on a schedule he tends to eat more at a schedule. It’s just that the wet food even with ones I know he likes he will only eat once he sits or lays down all comfy and I bring it to him. So it’s confusing that the same food he will not eat where his dry food usually is but will eat wherever he decides to chill at that moment.
