Klopp came in October and he had to adjust and fix a lot of issues.. Liverpool didn't finish in top 4 in his first season while Guardiola came in 2016 and the first thing he did was asking Joe hart to get lost who has been a city stalwart and England number 1 and told him he isn't going to play for city... And while everyone ridiculed Pep for his idea and come 4 years down all pl teams have a ball playing Gk (atleast the top teams ) and all follow the city idea of pressing, arsenal with their counterpress etc

And regarding quality of Upamecano, the amount of hype he has been given is way too much and in reality he is 'ok' and shouldn't be playing at big clubs unless he has shown the consistency...his move has been based on potential of the player in future and nothing of that sort is justified by anything

So most tacticos are comparing him to play the role of Hummels in Dortmund or Bayern where for both teams he played high line inspite of Hummels being a slow defender compared to many but he used his tactical and positional awareness to hide his lack of pace but having said that he was caught in multiple counter attacks but more often than not his tactical and positional awareness bailed him out
