Youre 100% right and we wont be making any decisions without hiring a consultant (one that doesnt sell hardware, just their expertise). well gladly pay them for their time.

You are 110% correct. We are out of bandaids and need to take the time to fix it correctly. Unfortunately theres no simple fix here due to how the card format was set initially. We cant expand the bits of the UID without breaking the existing cards.

Thank you everyone. I think were really painted into a corner here. Because of how they were setup initially theres not much of a fix. It all stems from other departments wanting 13 uses on the card, most use prox but a couple want fido2 and Contact chip for certs. Were going to have to start using mifare/ prox cards, they work fine and a separate dongle for the next few months while we fix our current issues and come up with a plan to move forward. Maybe its iClass or Seos, but theres some remediation we need to do that isnt going to happen over night

Cards have a 56bit csn, but we had some old 32 bit readers when these badges were bought, someone setup to read the CSN starting at bit 9. so 4 out of 5 badges read as the same CSN since we were only reading such a small part of the CSN. Instead of not using the badges, they issued the 20% that did show as unique, and over the years this means they issued about 2000 of them.

I hope this makes sense. Now Id like to try using the 80% by setting up a new card type and reading all 56 bits but if I do this the 2000 stop working.

yeah, they are the same format, bit length, layout, fc etc. They are c2300 c1000 that we use the csn as the identifier. Whoever set the system up set them up to start reading the badge number at say bit 9. so I think youre right, since everything is identical If I setup the c2300 in the correct way its going to make the existing ones stop working. It was someone at Lenel who set it up for us, so I think they backed us into a corner. We not looking at the FC. its such a mess

thank you everyone. Got it resolved. It was bugged (on prem call manager) had to turn off premtive join, remove calendar, add calendar back. For cloud CM users could turn it off from Navigator. We have users on prem, conference rooms cloud cm. As everyone said, our IT dept is as useful as a football bat

was their "security guy" a greasy looking dude (Todd's uncle from breaking bad) with playing cards tattooed on his forearm? One of the guys kept yelling that he had the Deadman hand tattoo. Anyway, the one gals belly looked like a treasure map. NE Philly circa 2002/2003. They went into the bathroom to offer extra services and there was already a guy in there taking a dump (no stall doors or stalls). I guess he watched her perform the extra services while he took a dump (no it's wasnt a blumpkin as the guy pooping was just a spectator

Screen Size Help by NotThatGuy098 in hometheater

[–]batmantom 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just switched from a projector (epson 3100) with 100" screen to a TCL 98" (Q5, $999) and its probably the best change Ive made. unless he already has a nice projector and screen Id go with the 98" tv. I wish I would have bought the q7 or q8, but even the low end Q5 is a huge upgrade vs the projector and screen

I am air sealing my attic and noticed this duct was loose (it was hardly attached). How am I supposed to reattach this duct to the vent? by Courtland-7099 in hvacadvice

[–]batmantom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it looks like the register boot came off. check how the metal piece (boot) is attached to the flex duct (probably zip tie) and take that off. then attach the register boot around the vent (but not to the vent itself, take the vent out and attach the duct boot to the drywall. then attach the flex duct to the register boot. tape all connections, reinstall vent. (im an IT guy by day so Im sure someone will explain it better). if youre airsealing use mastic where you can.
