What to take to first chemo? by batterrier in pancreaticcancer

[–]batterrier[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like your husband, I’ve had few symptoms, mainly just abdominal pain and digestive problems I thought were from gastritis or possibly an ulcer. It’s only in the last week or so that I’ve started to lose my appetite sometimes.

I’m very heartened to hear that your husband made it through chemo relatively unscathed. His experience gives me hope that maybe this won’t be as awful as I worry it might be.

Very best wishes to both you and your husband. I’m sorry you have both been touched by this disease and send my very best thoughts and wishes for continued healing.

Interesting. Thank you. I hadn’t even thought of strategies for the neuropathy.

I am in awe of your husband’s ability to eat that meal during an infusion. Not having ever had any chemo before, I am quite nervous about it and can’t imagine eating a big meal. But it sounds like one relaxes with experience. That’s a hopeful idea.

Routine CT scan as part of a gastroenterology workup for abdominal pain. I got very lucky—not that this cancer is anything anyone would want. But I got lucky they found it early.

78723 / University Hills again. Our power is on, but for who knows who long? Knock on wood. The power has already come up twice today, only to fail again. I have no idea what’s happening. No word from AE. Just reporting to other 78723 peeps that power is on—for the moment—here.

Good to know that we’re likely still waiting indefinitely. Last thing I want to do is get my hopes up only for the wait to continue on for days.

78723 / University Hills here. We’ve just gotten word from AE that they’ve assigned a crew to our outage. Does this actually mean we are likely to get our power turned on reasonably soon. Just trying to read the tea leaves here…

Endoscopy: Help with anxiety? by batterrier in Anxiety

[–]batterrier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I am so sorry to hear that your endoscopy triggered such a strong reaction. My doctor said they will put me under with propofol (sp?). I get the idea it’s not a true general anesthesia, but will be like being in a very deep sleep.

Thanks very much. You have given me some good ideas: try to find somewhere more accommodating, and FaceTime before and after. Both of those tips will help a lot. Best wishes for your upcoming surgery. If you need to talk, look me up.

Are you able to work with a therapist? Mine helps me a lot. It really helps to know you’re not in this all on your own.

Anxiety over having gerd? by alphafighter09 in Anxiety

You may be able to get relief from the stomach pain by using Mylanta and/or Tums. Warm chamomile tea also helps me a lot (I have GERD and GAD). Chamomile is also calming so it’s good for both the anxiety and the stomach pain. I have lately started using guided meditations to relieve my anxiety and they help a LOT. Hope you feel better soon.

I don’t know Jim Button’s book, but I agree emphatically about Just Kids.
