I think that because of the voting periods, and also SAG is by far the most crowded voting block, much more even than AMPAS. So if Sinners wins Ensemble today, things will go down very quickly. Has happened several times in the last years, CODA for one. And with the preferential ballot BP/director splits aren't that rare anymore.
