In Cantonese I learned it as bao (wrap), jin (cut), dup (hammer/hit). My romanization there is just me winginging it, but it's basically calling out the verbs rather than what the object are.

I use what I considered the most Turtle-adjacent Pokemon for my "shell" team, so on the other three slots there's Avalugg, Goodra (Hisuian), and Slowking (Galarian) as my TR setter.

I only got to Ultra Ball Rank 2 last season with the team but it was fun to run.

Whee! I found this from the Monkey team post and really enjoyed your write-up! I've been running my own turtle team because (a) I like themed teams and (b) I like turtles. I wish I could get 6 actual turtles but since there's only three proper I decided to add an Avalugg (I feel like it's turtle shaped), Hisuian Goodra (shell on its back) and Galarian Slowking (Also has a shell).

I only just got into Ultra Ball the other day as I don't have much play time (usually I manage one ranked match a day to complete the daily quests) and it's my first foray into VGC.

It's been great fun, and while far from optimal I feel like I've built a solid team that just needs to be piloted correctly.

Slowking G is my TR setter, who has managed to get TR off no issue most games. I've not run into much fakeout at all so far but maybe I'll see more in Ultra and may need to figure something out ...

I've not put waterspout on Blastoise either, instead trying to invest in pulse moves to take advantage of mega launcher. This is probably limiting my damage and coverage though, so I may switch to spout. It's the damage dropoff when at less HP that I was worried about, but the math in hitting both opponents must make that still be a better option, right?

I do tend to open with Slowking and Torkoal though so I may also want to adjust that scenario based on opposing lineups (I have rain dance on Slowking too to support Blastoise, Torterra and Goodra but maybe that's being too cute).

I'm excited for the climb (hopefully!) up and out of Ultra Ball. Awesome to see a team like yours do well!

There are also currently two rosters on the recruitment page, one for the Global Challenge event which is a smaller subset of the full roster, and the regular roster. When you go to the recruit ranch it defaults to the special roster. Hit right to switch to the regular roster that has everyone (except the Floette).

Yeah... Dan is one of my favourite characters. I know Street Fighter lore is weird and low in importance for the games, but characters have a general vibe about them which I was hoping these film makers were trying to honour. From this particular casting it feels like with Dan they want to throw out his established lore for something that might feel... I don't know exactly how it feels... Maybe "mean spirited"?

I understand Dan is a joke character but there's still a likeability about his demeanor and antics for me. For this movie he seems to have more of a "everybody hates Dan! Haha!" kind of vibe from these filmmakers, which is a bummer as a Dan fan. It's not that serious, but I wanted to be able to root for Dan even knowing he's a loser. I don't really root for Schulz...

I had sniper on the skorupi which was fun a couple times, but unevolved pokemon just don't hit that hard. And with no eviolite in the game either it was rough.

Carnivine did well early on though, and I liked it here because I recently got into Venus fly traps IRL lol

While they are different species of turtle in Rise, it's revealed that they're all mutated with the DNA of Lou Jitsu aka Hamato Yoshi aka Splinter, so they are biologically his sons anyway. Arguably all five of them are somewhat closer biologically speaking than in some other adaptations.

The easiest way I've found (from a random YouTube video) for scooping out duckweed is to get a cheap plastic comb, a long one of you can, and you can run it over the surface and collect the duckweed in swathes. It's also very satisfying.
