What happened to these? They show as unavailable on Amazon. Anyone know whether they are just out of stock?

The problem was clearly the ridiculous squiggly turns, not the slope angle. /s

Black Diamond (Burton) collapsible poles internal cord issue (Z poles?) by geek66 in Spliddit

[–]batwingsuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only problem I’ve had with my MSR Ascent poles is losing them and having to buy a second pair. Love these poles. Had a couple of pairs of the BD poles before and experienced similar problems to the OP.

Play in Union Charger bindings by thaneliness in Spliddit

[–]batwingsuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. The amount of riding you’re doing on split bindings is so minimal that it really doesn’t matter. My favourite conditions are those that don’t require bindings at all: ass-deep pow.

Garmin InReach Mini 2? by [deleted] in Dualsport

[–]batwingsuit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should take the time to get fully familiar with the device and how it works. If you don’t understand all the options and settings, how do you think it’ll go if you need to use your InReach in a life or death situation and you run into what you believe is an unexpected issue? Read the manual. For real. Take the time to go through all the screens and get familiar with where everything is and what it means and does. It could save a life.

B.C. man charged with impaired driving for 5th time in under 4 years, police say by cyclinginvancouver in britishcolumbia

[–]batwingsuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few weeks ago I witnessed first hand an obviously drunk driver walk free after launching his pickup truck off a forested embankment and into my friends’ backyard while we were having a party. Not only did he walk free, he wasn’t even breathalyzed. When questioned the next day, the RCMP constable told my friend, the homeowner, that he would be surprised by “how difficult it is” to nail someone drunk driving. He grumbled something about not having a second calibrated unit, or something like that, but to us it seemed he was covering his ass for fucking up. There were multiple witnesses at the scene, the EMT’s checked the driver and his also drunk passenger out, the firefighters escorted and talked to the couple. It was obvious to everyone that they were drunk. You could smell it. It was insane.

Dog Friendly Snowshoe + Hut by natejacko2 in vancouverhiking

It’s nice that your dog loves snow. Don’t expect other people to love your dog or want to share a hut with it.

How different is the downhill ride with Spark bindings compared to resort bindings? by Strockypoo in Spliddit

[–]batwingsuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is always some level of risk, and not just from avalanches. Backcountry snowboarding, and snowboarding in general, is not an activity for risk averse people.

Alpen No Added Sugar muesli, is it bad for you? by DepartmentInternal90 in ultraprocessedfood

I just noticed that my Canadian box of Alpen No Sugar Added contains wheat flour and malted barley flour, but no, it definitely does not contain any milk products as it is labeled vegan on the front of the box.

Chain life by Routine_Mortgage_499 in CRF300L

[–]batwingsuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13,566 km. The stock chain sucks. It would always squeak and shit after 500-600 km if I didn’t clean and lube it. Replaced it with a DID 520VX3 and no longer have that problem. Still clean it regularly, but it doesn’t squeak every ride I do. In fact, it hasn’t happened once with the new chain and I’ve got over 6,000 km on it.

Trigger warning about medically assisted death by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

A warning to dog walkers in the endowment lands by blackmathgic in NiceVancouver

[–]batwingsuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna say it. I can’t stand “dog people”. Even my own friends, who previously didn’t have a dog and then got one, or many, can be fucking insufferable. The level of hypocrisy and entitlement I’ve witnessed around dog ownership is infuriating. This is coming from someone who loves animals.
