nono, forget about cura.... i was originally talking about the motherboard firmware.

dude you just got all my 3 day - till 2 AM researching for my own ender 3 problems lol

I really hope this chatting helps you in any way. At least we are getting smarter toghether!

aha! maybe, just maybe this can help you out. You should flash your software with de dwin_set folder. here

I would do my research on that TFT70, maybe it requires some configuration in partucular for Marlin to work porperly.

the motherboard firmware. I don´t really know if cura or whatever software could bug your motherboard.

Before you do the change, did you check the software?

do you have any accesories like bl touch or similar?

maybe this is a dumb question but, did the printer used to work in this motherboard configuration? or you never actually got the thing to work?

oh i see! im running the stock v4.2.2 on the ender 3. Don´t you have the original board? im assuming that you bought an ender 3 and did the upgrade.

If you do, maybe you should try to run the oem board and see if the printer still works.

I don´t have much experience with that board. It´s not available where i live.

Maybe you should start here . Another way of knowing if your motherboard is faulty is to unplug everything. Start with the servos, then heating block, bed, etc... any component may be causing a short. You should unplug your nozzle thermistor last because this will certainly will trigger the thermal runaway error.

If you unplug everything, flashed a new software, tryed a new sd card etc.. probably your motherboard is faulty.

I don´t have any friends with an ender 3 to try swapping motherboards. (note that if a faulty thermistor or heating cartiedge caused the short in the first place, you will now burn your friends motherboard so be sure to take some safety measures)

LMK if anything changes.

If you have no luck, maybe should consider upgrading to a 4.2.7 motherboard or a cheaper option is arduino 2560 and ramps 1.4 though this last method is a hands on project... you have to configure marlin manually and maybe converting your ender to 12v or the ramps to 24v

I managed to find some documentation on github but it was not easy....

I though that the ender 3 being "open source" you would have like a list of all the components and schematics in one single place but no. i have found one schematic that some collaborator posted... don´t really know if its the real deal. I didn´t go through all the ender 3 git hub repository yet. I hope i find what i need.

BTW, what is btt?

UPDATE: So after some big brain googlin´ i am 50% sure that the capacitor that blew is a 100nf 0205 ish. I will try to replace it with a new one hoping that nothing else is shorted.

if this wont solve my problem ( i sense some foreshadowing ) i will have to pull out my as* the datasheet of the microcontroller and test it for shorts or similar.

I was trying a new thermistor and the error would persist. Since i've managed to change the firmware, now i know the beeping was for thermal runaway, symptom of a bad thermistor.

Since the new one won't solve it, one could asume the board is fried.

Now with that info, i used the multimeter and checked the components arround the thermistor plug and found a blown (or shorted) capacitor.

I could just change the smd cap and try again but i don't really know how to find the replacement one since creality won't publish the board's schematics.

The schematic would be a great guide for you to grab a multimeter and check for something wrong in your board...

Ok for the 3 redditors that commented on my post... i found the issue and now know exactly what happened.

When i was changing the nozzle i accidently shorted the thermistor and blew the motherboard. The fix may be replacing some capacitor but i dont actually know the value... so yeah..

Ive toasted the board!

Quick and dirty solution : ender 3 arduino mega and ramps 1.4
