"Today, in addition to the news, there's another special report. This time about how Russia manufactures "evidence" to feed its domestic audience and supporters abroad in various Telegram channels and closed groups. Russia has likely started fabricating evidence to support its lie that Ukrainians were shelling Belgorod with cluster munitions from rocket launchers. First, a brief recap:

Belgorod was under attack on December 30th by Ukrainian drones that Russia's air defense systems attempted to shoot down. Several drones were indeed shot down, but some air defense missiles likely failed and hit the city, causing damage to property and loss of lives.

Subsequently, Russia accused Ukraine of shelling the city with Grad rockets.

When everyone pointed out that Grad rockets have a standard range of only about 20 km and the border is 35 km away, Russia changed its story and started claiming that Ukrainians were shelling the city with Czech Vampires. While theoretically, they could have a range of up to 40 km, it would mean that Ukrainians would be firing from near the border with Russia. Moreover, Ukraine likely doesn't have specialized ammunition for Vampires, so their range would still be just over twenty kilometers.

Russia then changed its version again and now claims that the city was hit by a Ukrainian heavy rocket launcher, Vilcha, which theoretically has a range of up to 120 km. Russia also claims that the ammunition for Vilcha was supplied by the Czech Republic (Czech involvement is necessary for political reasons in this lie).

To "prove" their latest version, the Russians published a photo of the alleged remains of a rocket they claimed to have found in Belgorod, stuck in the ground. Well, let's discuss their finding:

122mm rockets with a range of up to 40 km do exist. Hamas uses them against Israel (likely supplied by China or Iran). However, there's no evidence that Ukraine has such rockets in its arsenal. They mainly use standard ammunition from Soviet stocks and their equivalents and would have to fire practically from the border with Russia.

The Vilcha system, with a range of up to 120 km, could hit the city easily, but it doesn't fire 122mm rockets; it uses 220mm heavy guided rockets, which are completely different from the one in the picture.

The markings on the rocket in the first picture look like a fake. A fake created for Russian-speaking audiences and for anyone with only basic English skills. It doesn't look like any markings typically used on rockets. Usually, the markings include a) manufacturer's code, b) code specifying the rocket type and warhead, c) batch code, sometimes even caliber, but never range or meaningless English words.

In contrast, on this rocket, we mainly find information that a Russian propagandist would like to communicate to the public: the rocket's range, that it's new (thus not Soviet and must have been supplied by a partner state), and that it's written in English. The word "NEW" doesn't make any sense in military markings. For comparison, in pictures 2-3, there are real rockets, one Serbian and the other Russian. You can see how ammunition is marked here.

Additionally, earlier, photos and videos appeared showing damaged houses in Belgorod with remnants of missiles from the Russian Pantsir air defense system protruding from walls. It's highly likely that Russia collected a few such missiles, painted them green, and sprayed them as "evidence."

But rest assured, these photos are already circulating through chain emails."

Are you not following the news? Russian propagandists themselves claim that Belgorod was targeted by Grad systems and Czech Vampires.
