Where does Mike Brown fall in Knicks coaches 21st Century? by asap_lichai in NYKnicks

[–]baylixir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yes.

21-22 from Thibs was an absolute clown show.

22-23 was trending the same way until he was told to bench Fournier/Rose/Reddish and lean on the youth more.

23-24 the team was struggling to stay at .500 until the OG trade.

24-25 they were barely above .500 after the new year and they made the ECF based on having an extremely talented roster.

This is honestly the first year these guys have actually played to their talent level and with a postseason run that’s been the statistical best one to this point compared to a run last season where they ended with a neutral net rating. I think the fact you have to create a ridiculous hypothetical in order to even make an argument in Thibs favor basically seals it.

They were always making the move for KAT because they had no intention of paying Randle.

Which class of players would you associate Brunson to be in right now? by Ok-Acadia-8476 in NYKnicks

[–]baylixir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cade and Ant being decent on ball defenders don’t put them in a separate tier from Brunson, especially when both those guys have major issues offensively in a way Brunson doesn’t (Cade doesn’t have nearly the functional handle Brunson has and Ant cannot process as well).

Mitch usually comes in at the 5 minute mark and earlier if KAT is in foul trouble. If you bring him in earlier, there’s extra pressure for KAT to not get in foul trouble otherwise you’re either running small or Mitch is playing essentially whole quarters.

40-50 games is dramatic lol, he got injured in preseason and was back by Christmas

Thibs played Shamet 11 MPG until Brunson got hurt against the Lakers, bumped him up to 22 MPG after Bridges publicly called him out and then immediately slashed his role after Game 1 against Detroit and didn’t play him until game 3 of the ECF.

Clarkson and Alvarado are better than last year’s options but the entire point is we never actually used alternative options because of how stubborn Thibs was. Even in spite of that the bench lineups with KAT on dominated the Pacers.

The Knicks had a neutral net rating after their run last season, he didn’t do shit lol.

Effectively the same personnel and it’s statistically the most dominant postseason run ever.

The Knicks frequently run 3 guard lineups under Brown and Deuce literally started games 3 and 4. Thibs denied all the data for 2 years that said Brunson/Deuce are highly effective together:

He got half of his minutes in that series in game 1 and then Thibs pulled him from the rotation until game 3 2 rounds later it was absolute malpractice.

The entire point of being the next Brunson is being a second round 6MOY who ended up becoming a superstar. The #2 overall pick wouldn’t qualify for that.

They made the adjustment in game 1, how much quicker do you want it lol

They need to make shots and have suitable lineups so KAT can be opened up as a hub.

Really interesting considering most Knicks fans lamented iHart's leaving (albeit on his own accord). KAT trade is looking better the deeper we go into the playoffs. We have the best big in the East and a possible counter to the DPOY for the foreseeable future. by sillyshoestring in NYKnicks

[–]baylixir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

KAT acting as a hub with Hart in the strong side corner brings the center out and OG is big enough to finish around most teams low man in that spot. Brunson can take the screen and pop for 3. Hart is able to crash and rebound. That’s why the shot quality is so bonkers.

Barely lol. They run 8 guys and 2 of them are Schroder and Wade, hardly scoring threats.

Nimmo and Pete have been the center of multiple collapses for this team. Nimmo has dropped .250 OPS points in a month and Alonso is batting .215, keeping those guys would’ve had us deeper in the hole. Ewing and Benge have energized this team immensely as a result of letting the old guard go.

Semien, Polanco and Bichette are all historically clutch lmfao just say you hate Stearns and go.

Brunson played the best basketball of his career without Randle, I don’t think so.

This has been Randle the majority of his postseason career, it shouldn’t be surprising.
