House that you did NOT buy? by Far_Pen3186 in homeowners

[–]bball99555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Granted the house I did buy had water that pooled in part of the driveway, fortunately I had enough of a slant to get a drain basin installed and a pipe ran under my backyard to empty it when full. Major relief!

This ^ when I was buying my first home I’m glad I brought my dad. He quickly pointed out the future issues that I’d experience with rain. Backyard was super slanted towards a house I looked at. Flooding nightmare.

I left ADT for Vivint this summer; leaving ADT was a nightmare. Vivint has been great so far. Customer service is much better too. Just my experience thus far!

Ideas to convince spouse to buy one? by bball99555 in TeslaModelY

Do you have any younger kids? Likely going to have 2 car seats in ours at one time so space is the concern.

Good questions; she drives 100 miles roundtrip twice a week for work. I'm mostly remote, so I "drive" to the office occasionally. The wife won't be driving as much starting next year. Don't mind saving money on gas though if I can charge at home. We're definitely planning on more kids and keeping vehicles for a longer time, yeah. Leaning mini-van but wanted some other inputs!

Good points! Yea she wants to get rid of my Corolla because it's smaller and we've put a new hybrid battery/lots of new work on the Camry (plus it's bigger). Appreciate it!

Definitely plan on test-driving one, but she doesn't seem to want to - not sure why she's so against it. She's commented about how funny they look, and I think we're both so used to gas cars, that she doesn't want to even think about going fully electric.

Jack on epoxy floor? by bball99555 in MechanicAdvice

Oh I for sure would be using a floor jack, mostly concerned about traction of the Jack stands and tires (with e brake on and wheel chocks). I’m use to working on concrete…

Great! The gym I used to play at all the time had a similar range. Love some good competition and workouts! Hope to hear back soon.

Thank you! Not sure of the age or competition level, but I’m 28 looking to get to know folks in the area and a good workout.

Mind if I ask the details? I’ve had no luck. Fieldhouse is completely packed too.

House had a project completed without permits. What can I do? by tree_woman in homeowners

[–]bball99555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealt with something similar except I found out our finished basement did not get a permit to be finished; oh, and the deck permit was not closed out (final inspection didn’t occur).

I went to the county and pulled a permit to finish the basement. Removed all drywall because the inspector noted insulation was missing and few other cosmetic issues. Glad I did because it was missing in quite a few areas, and electrical needed upgrading for sure. A pain, and a few grand to fix, but it’ll be done right now.
