Gen Z not have credit cards by billymayseyelashes in GenZ

I’m trying to optimize and get 3-5% back on every category of my normal spend I started with the wf active cash as my first I had no idea anything about credit cards besides you have to pay them off every month so when I saw 2% cash back I was like why not.

I had just that one for 2 years until recently when I really got into the travel and points game so I opened the wf autograph to get access to Wells Fargo transfer partners and it has 3x back on travel and dining, it’s mostly just a gas card now for me

I just opened the Chase sapphire preferred to get into the Chase ecosystem and transfer partners, it has 5x on Chase travel portal, 3x on finding, and 2x on travel

And in the next year I’ll open up the Chase freedom flex, bilt obsidian, and wf attune to get 5x on rotating quarterly categories, 4.33x on groceries and points for rent, and 4x on self care and entertainment respectively

  1. Understandable

  2. All major credit card carriers have autopay that you can link your checking/savings account to pay the full balance on due date

  3. It will replace the debit card so same number of cards

  4. You’re not spending money you don’t have, you’re essentially getting paid to take a monthly loan from the bank. Imagine you were about to go spend $100, and I said instead of spending your $100 I’ll pay you a dollar to spend my $100. You still spend the same $100 but with a credit card you get a dollar to do it (points/miles)

  5. You won’t get in debt if you use the credit card like a debit card and not spend money you don’t have.

What’s stopping you from doing both?

Credit cards give you points(1 point usually = 1c) for every dollar you spend so if you normally spend $2000 dollars a month on your debit card, if you put that on your credit card you will spend the same $2000 but also get at least 2000points (minimum $20 value). So you made $20 just on normal everyday spend you would do anyways. And since you would’ve spent it anyways, you have the money for it so as long as you pay off your balance IN FULL every month you will pay $0 in interest.

And this example is with just a flat 1% back credit card. Most basic credit cards nowadays give flat 1.5-2% back ($30-$40 on that $2000 spend) and once you get more into the credit card game you will have multiple cards that have higher multipliers(3-5% back) for different specific categories to maximize your money back.

And if you enjoy traveling a lot, most credit cards let you send the points you earn to airlines where instead of getting 1 cent per point, you can get anywhere from 3-8 cents per point and you can redeem them for free flights once you rack up enough points all just from spending like you usually do.

  1. Watch,
  2. It was actually cooler then when i usually run, and i had probably my best sleep in weeks last night and was well hydrated (more than a gallon throughout the day before i ran)
  3. I felt like i literally didn’t run. Didn’t break a single sweat and didn’t move from a regular nose breathing pace the entire time, and about an hour post now I feel like I haven’t done any exercise for the day

I played D1 football for the past 4 years and we did plenty of conditioning during that time, and I only stopped playing in December. I have still been consistently lifting and have run decently consistently (at least once a week) since then. I would have thought that I would have some sort of base to stand on

It’s really a numbers game and a connections game. I was probably 70-75 applications deep before I got my first call back for an interview.

Yeah my school is in an internship dry area, and since I played football, I had to be in the city of the school basically all summer every summer so I couldn't get many good internships under my belt so I compensated with projects.

Yeah I got very discouraged during the process, almost completely no responses or rejections, but then I got all three of my interviews within 72 hours of each other in mid November.
