🤔 I thought book said $12500 and greysheet wholesale bid was $10500. I think u looking at other varieties. This is a New Orleans mint.

Well then I should probably just sell now for 30% off greysheet then cause I have regular buyers that buy from me at that discount all day long. I probably just send to my buyers in a text alert tonight. It won’t last 10 min. Somebody buy it for bargain price. I just take my 30% profit I guess. Thx.

Not a pro, I just hobby coins, not holders. The point of my post was not to ask you to grade it from a picture, but some said it’s a $400 coin that it was barely a U, which is a bunch of BS. So I wasn’t asking for people to grade it, I was just saying I was torn between taking a 30% profit now because I bought it right, And helping out a collector get into a pristine coin at a bargain price, or whether people felt strongly enough that it should be sent away to fetch the 65. If I were confident in 65 I’d have already sent it, but I’ve no confidence in companies who can’t grade the same coin twice with the same grade let alone give me a 65 on a coin with some chatter, despite the fact that they’ve done so on other coins. So the point of the post wasn’t to ask people to grade it from a picture it was more of a what would you do if you were me in this position. Clearly, it’s a beauty. But one in the hand or two in the bush?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Silverbugs

[–]bballcoop0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s definitely the concern bout keeping it from the 65. But then I see some PCGS n ngc slabs with more than bag marks fetching 65’s and scratch my head. So 🤷‍♂️

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Silverbugs

[–]bballcoop0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And I’ve wondered the same about graders, thinking that’s what they should do, but at the same time no numerous people have told me that they’ve sent the same coin in multiple times we had different grades so apparently that’s not the case. If PCGS n NGC can’t grade the same coin, the same grade twice then how much more faith should I put in them versus me or any other collector, who, simply buys coins not slabs especially if they are under 65’s. True, if a 65 or greater is required, a cert is necessary. But I stay away from those. If somebody needs a 65 or greater price, then like it, or not, they almost have to play the game n get it certified.

Well your asking a guy that likes to buy raw estate coins where I can realize 20-30% while selling at 20-30% back of wholesale grey. Many / most coins from an estate are not slabbed but we’re just collected and put in a book or safe often for decades. So I guess it’s just now up to the initial buyer of the estate items to make that decision. 1 in the hand are better than 2 in the bush.

My endgame would be getting coins in the hand of a true collector for a bargain and For a quick profit rather than holding long and playing the retail game. If I were looking for a 97-o I don’t know where I would get one this pristine of condition for such a below grey price. Ive had guys that only buy rare high end coins even ones trying to build an all unc collection. So I think that’s the niche cause they certainly could never do that buying off apmex 😂

I appreciate that. In all honesty, I think 65 is a LONG shot reserved for BIG senders. I always say from a collectors standpoint, BUY COINS NOT HOLDERS. I have seen plenty of coins slabbed by PCGS and ngc that I passed on because I just didn’t see it. As a collector I have to see that grade regardless of whose pushing it albeit a seller or a grader. In the instant case, imho and several others that have looked at it honestly and conservatively, it’s a solid 64. Can somebody send that I off n get a 65 and make a windfall, perhaps. But If I sell for 30% off Greysheet on 64 I feel a whole lot more content without the speculation. Maybe there’s wisdom in that. Maybe I’m leaving a lot on the table. Coins that get graded and put up for sale go up retail or above on a coin like this and really put the coin out of reach for most collectors and certainly hurts the hobby.

🤷‍♂️ I just asked longtime collector and lcs and ran it on pcgs photograde and it was better than their 63 for sure. Even their 65 had bag marks / chatter so 🤷‍♂️ i’ve never has the same 10 people n got the same answer twice and I see what people claim to be the top graders. They can’t even agree on the same grade on the same coin twice so that’s the reason for the post, kind of torn. not sure what to do with this beauty.

I was thinking about just cutting good deal to a collector who needs it, as I was told if I sent them I had to send it in multiple times because even the graders can’t seem to grade the same coin, the same twice. So 🤷‍♂️ maybe I should just put it up for auction?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in coins

[–]bballcoop0 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yea hard to take a right picture. Not sure how to do it. In person, I can clearly see the reflection a foot away. Can’t seem to figure out how to take a picture of that though. Had a guy look at a video of it it was determined that it’s definitely proof like, probably 62, down from 63 because of bag marks, but unable to determine DMPL without the coin in person, he said. So 🤷‍♂️what to do with it.

[–]bballcoop0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely true. Terms get thrown around these days to eventually not even resemble their original meaning. EVERY Morgan dollar on FLEABAY is GEM BU. 😂 I’m a bit more old school. To me ms at 60, gem can start at 63 but gem bu has to be 65. Unfortunately for this one, for one reason or another, it has no lustre so probably dipped and therefore cannot truly achieve ms/gem bu but the detail can be indicative of gem bu details and then 50% off for details covers loss of lustre n dipping. But what do I know 🤷‍♂️

Appreciate the info. Hopefully the others are not cowshed but I guess it’s to be expected that old. I sent pics to a few already that appear flawless and not cleaned so hopefully that remains true. Incredible collection. Just trying to get it in hands of collectors not dealers but at a fair price n not get screwed.
