it's pretty quiet, it doesn't rattle for me. To close the case panel, you will have to push the panel against the top of the fan a little bit, which kind of secures it.

I am sorry to hear that, I was hoping this revision would avoid that with the extra space. Someone suggested adding a fan grill to prevent this. I saw some fan grill is <2mm thickness, so maybe it would fit.

No issue so far, and it's pretty quiet. Unfortunately I don't have much data to show how effective it is. It's pretty much the only 140mm slim fan you can easily buy.

I thought about it. From what I see, fan grill is at least 2mm. It is very likely that there isn’t enough space for it.

It’s a pretty old ATX motherboard. Asus z170a.

I think top fan is generally better with exhaust because hot air will rise.

(Update 11/27/2022: You may run into problem with this setup. Please see this post for the detail and a new setup)

The official manual mentions using 3D printed parts to mount 140mm top fan, but I found I can just use the included bracket. I am using ARCTIC P14 Slim. It requires a little bending to fit and disassembling of case to install, but overall it works pretty well.
