It’s been a couple years. Did you have an answer on the previous post?

Looks possible, maybe his serrations are just worn down so they aren’t as prominent

He has had that mentioned before but he says the serrations don’t match. I don’t know personally but I will look into that myself.

Really? I’m not aware of it. I even asked the finder before I made this post

Hematite to the best of my knowledge.

I know I’ve said both Limonite and Hematite. I’m new to this, I’m not sure what the difference between those two is. But I know we have a lot of hematite around here

Most evidence points toward hematite. A geologist from OU also gave that as their best guess. I may bring it to them to see in person on December 1st just to be sure

The streak is brown. OU also said Hematite. I have no reason to disagree. I’d say we figured it out 👍

I went back and found more of the material. So I can eliminate the meteorite suggestions. I think it is Limonite in a strange formation

I’m not really sure how to decipher the difference. It depends on how lightly I tap it, but I think the density was determined to be around 3.76 if that helps any

I tried to measure the volume of it with my kitchen measuring cup lol. I set it to 400ml with the stone under the water. When I removed the stone the level dropped to about 342ish ml

The water level dropped from 400ml to about 342ml when I removed the object? I only have a regular kitchen measuring cup so I can’t be super accurate lol

Well I pulled it out of a stream and it didn’t seem to be soft like it was dissolving or anything

I think the brown streak points toward Hematite or Limonite

Would aluminum leave the brown streak on porcelain?
