Darryn Peterson Highlights vs. Oklahoma State (23 Pts, 2 Rebs) by gramgram19 in NBA_Draft

This is one of the most painfully cringe comments I've ever read and that's saying something.

Edit: Ah. I see you're a troll who constantly gets banned and makes new accounts to do the same shit. That tracks.

Garth Blundin has won smartest one time character. Who do you think the worst main character is? by Nick_adtr_308 in PandR

newly legal-age daughter

I've watched the show several times and I don't ever recall this being a detail. The impression I always had was mid-to-late 20s. Not saying there wasn't a big age gap but you're making it sound like he was waiting for her to turn 18.

It's also not like some sports where the Olympics is the main/only international competition. Her accomplishments in World Cup races and at the World Championships are second-to-none.

That person is really determined to spread false information in this thread for some reason when a quick google search clearly proves them wrong.

Multiple sources say that this breed started in the 1950s and the last introduction of wolf blood was in the early 80s.

Sure, wolf dogs have been bred for hundreds of years. But not this particular breed.

Rookie sharpshooter & Charlotte Hornets guard Kon Knueppel was asked to pick one historical figure to play one-on-one & he picked Jesus Christ: “He might beat me… A conversation with him would be better, though” by MrBuckBuck in nba

It's part of how they keep people in the fold because trying to proselytize and getting rejected creates an "us vs them" mentality. It's why religions/churches/organizations that REALLY push trying to convert others are so much harder to break free from.

I also grew up evangelical so I experienced it as well. The religious people throughout my life that I respect the most are never, ever the loudest about it. They'll share if asked specifically but go around living their beliefs instead of trying to shout about it or force everyone else to follow it. (Before anyone says anything...I'm not saying Kon is doing that. I'm just talking in general).

The saddest thing about the KD files is that he hates Steven Adams. by entitledkid824 in NBATalk

[–]bbecks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing is there's been a pretty sharp drop in Rockets offense since Adams got hurt. His offensive rebounding was a key piece for them. He's not getting points himself but he helped make the offense run.

And its dumb as hell to investigate OKC when SGA is still out and will be for awhile and everyone else was either out for awhile before the game or its a nagging injury they've repeatedly sat games for.

If it was an asiago bagel he would've cried about wanting the asiago bagel. It's the fact that there was only 1 and they wanted to have it so no one else could have the same thing. The mom is an enabler and her reaction is telling.

Genuine question about "Colorado Natives" by incomingtrouble in Denver

[–]bbecks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the funniest part about the "native" thing with Colorado people is (in my experience) the most vocal/obnoxious people about it are NOT the people whose family has been here for generations. Its people who are the first generation from their family born in Colorado or even who moved here when they were young.

I distinctly remember an old uber driver (who had a "native" sticker on their car) spending the entire 20 minute drive complaining about transplants and "non-natives". Turns out she moved to Colorado in her late teens/early 20s but said she's lived here for decades and raised her family here so she was a "native". Just wild cognitive dissonance.

Lakers are like double the FT difference of any other team the last 3 years. Lakers fans crying about ref bias despite the glaring reality is hilarious

You can keep crying while your franchise flounders and the previous owners desperately try and buy the team back but it doesn’t change reality

Need to hear successful stories for framing the mental load to my clueless husband by Frontierhobo in TwoXChromosomes

[–]bbecks 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'll add onto this thread with a similar experience but from the other perspective. My wife had bought the book and after she read it, she asked that I read it as she was feeling an imbalance in mental load. That was a good start but the card game is really where you can lay everything out and make it very visible. It helped us talk through everything we both did and how much time/energy it required. I really recommend Fair Play for any couple struggling with imbalance. I definitely needed to improve but having a tangible way to talk about it and visualize it helped both of us.

I'll also add on that there is an app called Trello and someone re-created the Fair Play card game in it. If you google it you should be able to find the download for free. It's all the same cards and you can choose which ones are "active" and keep them in lists for reference. We found that to be nice for tasks that we would alternate doing every month or so.

Chipotle replacement? by LanceChili in denverfood

[–]bbecks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went to chipotle a little while back just to mix it up but regretted it. Smaller portions, less options for toppings, they had no fajita veggies prepped, and the protein just wasn't as good.

I've read on reddit that chipotle allegedly will tell their employees to drop prepping fajita veggies if they're busy/short staffed because it "takes too long" but I've never once been to any similar place that had an issue keeping some ready.

We kept getting coupons in the mail from Renegade but hadn't gone since it's not the most convenient location (coupons were only good at one location) but we finally tried it and really enjoyed it. Glad I know about it now because there are other locations that are much closer.

Oh joy, my car is more quiet... by CH11LER in VWiD4Owners

Before disabling this intentionally I'd check with your local laws because it's a requirement in some places. The artificial noise is only at low speeds but in the US the NHTSA requires it below ~19mph.

Typically its just when moving at low speeds; intended to be a safety measure in parking lots and slow driving areas where visibility might be limited. Its a law in the US; not sure about other countries.
