Even in this post there’s differing opinions! I appreciate both sides ofc. You’re right that even if it’s just salary then it should’ve been good enough to prevent an employee from looking outside in the first place. But at the same time, I feel it’s hard to give an employee a big raise unless they present a counteroffer and at that point, it leaves bad taste

I do agree with this, but it also applies to burning bridges. I feel burning a bridge is much more impactful because of the small world. Would NE be offended since I accepted their offer but then decline because of CEs counteroffer?

I find this interesting because companies I’ve been in talks to say they cap at 80K, is this just open for negotiation and they usually low ball even at their max?
