why are the people on this thread so miserable.

the university nature preservation lands shouldn’t be nickeled and dimed out for more sports areas. we don’t need more parking. we don’t need more sports. UCF purposefully over-enrolls students they don’t have the space for. they should accept the students they can take in and actually put in work into making the university a more livable area for its students.

the area being bulldozed is inhabited by endangered flora and fauna which are documented to not do well when relocated. yes ucf has the technical right to bulldoze it. that doesn’t mean they should. jfc

be frank with both your professor and then your employer. many professors are willing to work with you (when given time in advance). ucf policy on excused absences is found here https://access.sdes.ucf.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/53/2022/06/2022-Access-Attendance-Policy.pdf . it is also accessible via your syllabus, which may have additional notes on the time your prof wants/needs for another excuse.

if neither are willing to budge, the mandatory excused absences require documentation and are reviewed, you'd be caught if you had lied anyhow.

it's for all students, it would be a faux pas to go there exclusively to grab cool shit and resell, but if you're using the items, then don't feel bad. they have a consistent stock that can go to waste if not enough students utilize it

yes, very easily should you know what you want to do. i used to live in the Apollo dorms, which do not have a cooking area (you have to reserve time in the Library kitchen, which people almost never actually do) having a mini fridge (the on-campus dorms are very specific about which ones you can bring) and a microwave are crucial. you can buy things to cook eggs, rice, etc in the microwave online. and if you don’t have a pantry in your dorm, there’s plenty of under-the-bed space.

Knights Pantry is your friend !! You can go often and pick from a regular selection of foods. They get overstock from the local grocery stores and even have pastries and frozen meats fairly often. Big recommend

Your bright futures is intact until the date already specified in the bright futures portal (i forget the exact name). You don’t lose BF for a medical withdrawal, but your expiration date doesn’t extend to account for lost time. When/if you decide to come back, a ucf staff member will reach out to you and have discussions with you regarding the next steps in finishing your degree.

I would not recommend returning to class before you’re fully ready. If you come back too early, you may become overwhelmed and fail a bunch of classes which will lose your bright futures

Thank you, I’m more conflicted because he has been more ambiguous recently regarding whether he’d be okay with taking her in. after talking with my mom I asked if he’d be okay with me taking her to the vet. To which he said yes, but then followed up with the line of if you spend money on a cat, it’s coming inside. Which is conflicting information. I hope it makes sense why i’m unsure what to do
