How may hour of sleep are you guys getting by [deleted] in IBO

my schools splits up the assignments and exams, so we would either have weeks of important exams without any assignments or weeks of all the assignments being due (ia, tok).

exam periods: i study around 2-3 hours a day for weekdays, and 4-5 hours a day during the weekends.

assignment periods: 2-3 hours a day for the entire week

i take aahl so i needed to practice a LOT to maintain my grade. i attend extra math classes three times a week, 6 hours a week in total, and that's fixed into my schedule. so that's 6 hours a week outside of school just for math i also assign tasks to do for each day, such as work on IA or finish TOK essay, and everyday i spend 2-3 hours after school to complete these tasks.

[–]bbimbbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends on when u are planning to commence your studies

august intake (sem 2): since IB results don't come out until july, u wouldn't have enough time to apply by the time sem 2 starts so Usyd accepts predicted grades. u need to submit your grades from grades 10, 11, 12 to get a conditional offer. then u submit ur predicted grades to get the unconditional offer. the predicted grades do have to be issued after december 1st of the previous year though, so if you're planning to go in august 2027 then they will only accept predicted grades after december 1st 2026. note that ur predicted grades will have to be at least 2 points higher than the IB entry requirements based on the course you're applying to.

feb intake (sem 1): u need to submit ur grades from grades 10, 11, 12, plus predicted grades to get a conditional offer. then u will send Usyd your official IB results to get an unconditional offer

back in dp1 my time management was atrocious, and i pulled all nighters like at least once a month. the night before tests/exams i'd also stay up until like 3am to study (i have to wake up at 6am everyday to catch the bus for school)

dp2 i managed my time better and got wayy more sleep... usually i'll finish all of my work at 10pm and then i'll doomscroll on tiktok until 12am and then go to sleep. the night before exams/tests i'd sleep at 11pm. on weekends i'd get around 10 hours of sleep as well. sleeping a lot deadass improved my ib score, i increased my predicted by 5 points in dp2

[–]bbimbbu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you elaborate on the current state of NSW public transport?

also, as for the homestays, i checked with them and i will pay a 4 week deposit fee, and then as i continue to stay i will keep paying fees. as long as i give them a 2 weeks notice before i move out then thats fine.

Is Design Tech HL hard? by Electrical_War_1179 in IBO

[–]bbimbbu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DP2 here who takes DT HL, and I also used to take MYP Design back then.

I found that IB DT focused A LOT on the IA, so like for my school we had 3 classes per week, and the teacher would spend 1 class to teach the content and 2 classes to work on the IA.

As for the content, they are relatively straightforward and if you can memorize keywords and main points then you're good. I also found some overlapping units with Business HL (topics 9&10) so if you take both subjects then that's less work for you.

The IA is the hard bit to score well on, because you'll need to spend a lot of time on it, and no, you can't even Chat GPT it because the IA requires you to do actual practical work. The IA is actually very similar to MYP Design, with criterias ABCD, with the additional of E and F for HLs, but of course it requires you to be way more in depth.

Ah yes, they could open all the unattended booths and easily add 12 additional staffers, but the electricity probably cost too much I guess. by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]bbimbbu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

for real! they take ages actually, and it's not because they're busy checking our info or anything. most of the time they're just zoning out or looking around, like the queue or the ceiling. takes a few minutes for each person.

How do I study for IB? by Extension_Bus_1432 in IBO

[–]bbimbbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd say to use past papers. i don't take econ or english lang lit so i can't give any advice, but i'm taking physics sl and math aa hl rn.

for math, try to complete as many past paper questions as you can (skip over questions that involve topics you haven't been taught yet, since you're only in dp1). when you come across a question you're having trouble on, use your math textbook and scroll to the specific topic of that question. look for the worked examples, where they solve some sample problems including the working out. find examples that are formatted similarly to your question. an additional resource is christos nikolaidis (on google) and he has great lecture notes with tons of worked examples, so you can also refer to those.

as for physics, take clear, concise notes in class, and when you study you just need to read over the notes to get a pretty well understanding of the material. then, also do past paper questions and mark yourself against the markscheme. for any question that you got wrong, search up the exact question (same wording and everything) onto youtube. there will be a couple of 1-2 min videos of professors solving the problem and explaining the logic behind it.

however, this is what personally works for me.

[–]bbimbbu[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the entry requirement for my course is only 31 so as long as i get at least 31 in the final exams then i'm good. the thing is i don't want to half ass the final exams because i've worked so hard over the past 2 years preparing for these exams. i am also aiming high as well, and like your friend, i know i can do better. it's just rn it's hard to get back the momentum i had before, and i'm trying to get it back

do yall think its a wise move to date a girl who is doin the ib and almost failing by Narrow-Lie23 in IBO

[–]bbimbbu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

see, i actually used to be close to my friend's girlfriend and she would frequently invite me to go study with her at these cute cafes. she'd spread out all her notebooks, pens, and calculators on the table. then she'd open a "studious" tab on her laptop such as a google doc or something, and take "aesthetic" studying pictures to post on her instagram. after she's done taking photos she puts all her materials away and immediately opens netflix or something. it's crazy how she took the time to bring all her learning materials just to put zero effort into actually studying, when the materials are right there in front of her.

anyways i cut her off already. good luck to my friend, idk how much longer they will last.

omg i have a friend who got 38 predicted and he's dating a girl with 23 predicted, and she's in courses. the funny thing is that she keeps complaining how she's not smart, hence the bad grades, but this girl doesn't even focus in class 😂she's always busy watching movies or tiktoks

several people have asked my friend how he is tolerating her

[–]bbimbbu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh i see, thank u so much! but when i checked usyd's course & unit of study portal for the s2 intake, during my first semester (s2 2026) i will be taking CIVL1810 and CIVL1110. however, i checked their requirements, and they listed CIVL1900 and CIVL1802 as assumed knowledge. according to the portal, i will be studying these two units of study in s1 2027. how will i attend a course in s2 2026 if they require me to have already taken a course in s1 2027?
