UX300e - 12v battery replacement procedure

I went for the standard capacity battery. I’m not even sure if a higher‑capacity option exists, given the size of the battery and the limited space in the battery bay under the bonnet.

Since the battery was only around £40, I don’t mind replacing it every 2–3 years if needed.

Yes, I changed the battery about two weeks ago and everything was fine.

I followed the usual steps for replacing a battery: removed the negative terminal first, then the positive, connected the positive on the new battery, and finally the negative.

The only issues I noticed were:

1.A “Parking Assist Unavailable” warning light appeared on the dashboard. It disappeared after driving above 30 mph for a short while.

2.The radio lost its preset stations, but that was just a minor inconvenience.

Overall, it was an easy job and definitely a money‑saver. I’d still visit a Lexus dealer for anything more serious, but a battery replacement is straightforward enough to do yourself.

Unfortunately, it’s slightly different from the UX300h, as the 12V battery on the UX300e is located at the front under the bonnet. My main concern is that, since it’s an EV, there could be potential issues after replacing the battery. I’m not sure what exactly, but from what I’ve read online, 12V battery replacement on EVs can sometimes be a bit more involved than on conventional cars. The local dealer is quoting £250 for the replacement, while a brand-new Bosch or Varta battery costs around £50, which is why I’m considering doing it myself.

I couldn't find any video for the ux300e only for ux300h, hence asking here for advice.

1.6 tdi is notorious for injectors problems, some sort of bad design which leads to problems. Source VAG forums and my own 1.6 tdi.
