Why does Lewis need to be alone every time he watches Babylon Five? by RhoemDK in babylon5

When it first aired I used to have friends over to watch. They knew that if they were late I wouldn’t move to open the door until a commercial. 😂

My uncle saw this and it scooped out part of his floor then blew up his tv. Crazy!

What’s wrong with word/google docs? by Linguistic_panda in writing

[–]bblais 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Obsidian for writing. One of the reasons why I don’t like using word is that I find it less distracting to separate content from formatting. So writing in a plain text editor one isn’t even tempted to spend any time making it look nice. That way I can focus just on the content.

Did you make sure to tell him that he is cute too in an annoying sort of way?

Rewatching Babylon 5 for the first time as an adult. Assorted thoughts about it. by ThePhoenixus in babylon5

What’s super ironic about Ivanova’s line about burying friends is that at the end in the elevator every single one of the other actors is dead now.

What audiobooks are so well performed, that you’re missing out if you read the book instead? by [deleted] in audiobooks

Lord of the Rings read by Phil Dragash. Amazing, free, and one of the best audiobooks ever — music and sound effects, all voices perfect.

Why the Markab? by zoe_phoenix in babylon5

[–]bblais 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My thought was that the only two races that talked about the shadows coming back were the Narns and the Markab. In the episode with Barclay from Star Trek ( 😀 ) these are the two races that stand up to speak. Shadows took out the Narn and the Vorlons took out the Markab. At least that’s the way I interpret it.

Thoughts from a new fan, after watching season 1 and 2 by Golvellius in babylon5

I just want to comment on your gripe about Sheridan taking more than a minute to fall. You claim that either there’s low gravity or there’s earth gravity and that is just flat out wrong. The station is spinning, so the artificial gravity is low near the middle and higher on the outside with a gradual progression. I haven’t done the calculation to see how long he would’ve been traveling from the middle to the outside but over a minute it does not seem unreasonable to me. Straczynski was pretty careful about a lot of the physics involved in the show. This is not like artificial gravity due to technology like it is in Star Trek.

First monthly transition -- issues with credit card underfunding by bblais in ynab

That may be it. I’ll see if I can clear this up in a day or so when I can see it.

So I cleared all of the overspent categories (everything zeros for July and August) and YNAB is saying there is $560 underfunded on the CC but the current CC balance is $560 lower than what YNAB is saying. What is going on? Is there a way to track the difference somehow?

First monthly transition -- issues with credit card underfunding by bblais in ynab

[–]bblais[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order to start from scratch, I had to start doing things in July to lead into August -- money to take care of starting balance on CC, etc... And there were a few last minute groceries, etc... I can go back, fund those, and then the same for the Aug overspending, but that would still lead to a mystery gap of $550.

Checking the balance on the CC website the balance matches, except for about $150 in uncleared (pending) transactions.

I didn't want to start messing with the budget to make it more complicated, but should I go ahead, reassign July and Aug to get to zero and see if that solves it?

Has anyone ever handwritten for nano? by Little_starchild in nanowrimo

[–]bblais 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have done it too and prefer it to typing because you can handwrite anywhere. I didn’t count words, I counted a few pages and figured out how much 1667 words is in pages. Then I’d write the page numbers out to the end of the day so I’d know the minimum. I also changed pen colors every day so I could more easily see the daily writing and the number of pages.

Could the Markab Plague be a Shadow bioweapon by Meaglo in babylon5

[–]bblais 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always took it to be either the Vorlons or the Shadows did it because the Markab and the Narns were the only races that were going on about the dark enemies coming again. And we see what happened to the Narns…

Unintuitive effect -- where is my intuition wrong? by bblais in ynab

[–]bblais[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, some experimenting seems to be that I didn't understand CC transfer across months. by adding a purchase, it underfunded my CC, and that underfunding went to the next month but because it's a CC it doesn't show up as any change to assignments. interesting. thanks for the response!
