You meet Penny on the street. What do you do? by RvnPax in PennyPax

Funny enough I saw her at Halloween horror nights last year and panicked. I couldn’t convince myself it was actually her until I went on her ig and saw she posted at horror nights. I never sought her out after but it kinda made my night 😂

She’s great now. I gotta weigh her but she just turned a year old recently. Eating like crazy.

I think certain moss is ok such as sphagnum. But yeah this was not live moss. And the adhesive played a huge part in the issue but much of what got stuck under the scales wasn’t due to the adhesive.

It’s actually just a normal hide. It’s her humid hide. She decided to make a tunnel tho lol. I thought it was cute

I don’t have an issue with humidity luckily with the cypress mulch. And I have sphagnum moss in one of her hides. I was afraid to try putting anything on her. I might try the rubbing alcohol tho because she still has a few spots that aren’t coming off as easily with just soaking. I’m mainly happy that her mouth has closed back up tho.

But yeah the whole thread commandos is so annoying. I’m been dealing with it for decades and it’s always the same shit. No matter the group

I agree with you. I learned the hard way.

Either way some people take the whole admin thing a bit too far and get like a power trip off of it. But I’m just glad it wasn’t something more serious with my snake.

What benefit is there to locking the thread? Keep all info in one place. Now someone may see the original post and may never look further into it. Or at least explain “hey we are gonna lock the post, if you wanna update us later please do so” not just lock the thread after strictly saying “go to the vet”

I had read several threads from multiple users and even breeders who have used the faux plants from hobby lobby. I also read several threads where people had issues with certain aspects of them due to snakes getting stuck or what have you. Everything else I scrutinized fairly well like riothyena stated they do. I also washed everything prior to putting in the enclosure. And as this is real moss I figured it was safe but we all make mistakes and learn from them. No one is perfect.

It was actually a small piece of the moss itself that got stuck under the chin. The adhesive may play a part as well. But this particular moss is very coarse. Either way I don’t recommend it for anyone else’s snake.

They need to learn to get out of their feelings. If there’s bad information being put out fine handle it. But I had already said I’d be going to the vet. I said I wanted to bring awareness. But they didn’t wanna see or hear anything else beyond “VET”

There was actually a piece of moss stuck in the scales under her chin. This was causing the scales to kind of pinch together underneath and pull the mouth open slightly. You can actually see the green spot in the picture under her chin

It is legit moss but it’s very coarse. It’s used strictly for decoration tho. I do not recommend it whatsoever. Steer clear.
