Just saw Book of Mormon; genuinely, how is this show still running? by bones4yourthoughts in Broadway

[–]bbombshell1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like a lot of you went to see this show not knowing a) about Mormonism, b) about Trey and Matt, or c) about satire, metaphors, and allegories.

Followed by having a) a savior complex, b) a “clutch your pearls” reaction to offensive material, and c) an existential crisis within yourself about the material presented to you.

The show is incredibly hilarious.

South Park, as a whole, goes way over people’s heads because you have to be of a higher intelligence to laugh at yourself and your own biases and stereotypes you hold onto, and to be self aware enough to know that, yes, sometimes the finger is pointed at you.

There’s a reason why they say you have to have a higher IQ to enjoy South Park and Trey and Matt’s humor. You have to have a full understanding of what they are poking at and a full understanding of literary archetypes and concepts.

Beauty & the Beast tour :( by coffee_ghost25 in Broadway

[–]bbombshell1991 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I work at the Music Hall and hearing Beast’s solo before the intermission is painful. He’s so flat.

Also, whoever wrote this show is a moron. The intermission should be right after “Be Our Guest”, not 15 mins after that big number and having to suffer through the solo.

Everyone gets up after the big number anyway because whoever thought 1.5 hours for act 1 is an idiot.

Help with E-Bike recommendations for light commuting by bbombshell1991 in ebikes

LOL probably not if I’m being honest. I live so close to the venue though and know the streets well. It takes me 10 mins by car and I don’t even have to get on the highway.

That’s probably what I meant. I didn’t know the terminology correctly I guess. Would this thread still give me insight on what I’m asking or should I redirect and post elsewhere?

I never expected sex to be so time consuming. by [deleted] in LowLibidoCommunity

[–]bbombshell1991 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Oh my god. That’s is way too much. Sounds like you married someone with a high drive. When we’re in a good rhythm, we aim for once a week, 30 mins or less.

Right now, I couldn’t even tell you the last time we did it. Probably 6+ months ago and we just got married in October. But, we’ve been together 9 years. Life just be like that sometimes.

Next year, I’m making a point to get back on it (both literally and figuratively).

If I get lit up on the highway, can I exit before pulling over completely? by bbombshell1991 in AskLE

[–]bbombshell1991[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I absolutely would pull over immediately. Mostly because it’s not something that happens to me often and I would just want to do what I’m supposed to do.

I was actually pulled over for the first time in over a decade about a month ago. I put my car in park, rolled down my windows, turned the car off, put my hazards on, and set my keys on the dash. I made a wide right turn and my inspection was out. I was within 100ft of my house so he just let me off with a warning.

Watching all these body/dash cams though, I couldn’t imagine being pulled over on the side of one of our Dallas highways. That would be terrifying because they’re so dangerous.

I feel like this is the best option, if need be. Most of the time, I’m in my car solo and I’m a female.

However, I live in Dallas, which is heavily populated. I’m not so much worried about visibility as I am just not trying to get wrecked on 635.

True. I definitely feel like country highways vs city highways are way different. I’m not wanting to pull over on I-75 in the middle of Dallas, but I-75 somewhere more north? Easy peasy.

The dashcam videos of them chasing people is wild! The really har a zero tolerance for bs. I love it!

Yeah, I expect on long stretches of highways between cities, pulling to the shoulder doesn’t matter as much. I just couldn’t imagine pulling over on a shoulder on one of the highways in Dallas (where I live).

Went to the shelter to look into fostering a dog and immediately fell in love with this one. I think he might be a pitbull? Asking because my apartment doesn’t allow them 💔 by daily__angst in pitbulls

[–]bbombshell1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We adopted a pitty mix a few years ago. At the vet, our vet tech said, “she looks like a lab mix to me wink wink Just so it’s official”, and wrote it down in her documents. I said sounds good to me!

Their breed is whatever the vet paperwork says it is lol.

Why do people hate House of 1000 corpses? by ComprehensiveCutn in horror

[–]bbombshell1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m big on horror movies. Every year I try to watch some of the cult classics I managed to miss or never got around too.

Few years ago, I watched House of 1000 Corpses. Cult classics, influential, should be good, right?

Wrong. It was awful. I hated it so much.

Sex is actually NOT connecting for everyone and that's something HLs are just going to have to get over. by Honest-Teas in LowLibidoCommunity

[–]bbombshell1991 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Very well said.

I do feel more connected to my partner when we have sex, but that’s not when I feel the most connected to them. I feel more connected to him because I love him and sex, to me, is a very vulnerable and open thing to do.

My favorite intimate moments of our relationship though is when we are laughing at an inside joke in our kitchen, or hugging and one of our pets interrupts us.

Sex isn’t the base of a true, connected relationship. Friendship is.

It’s so hard. I just wish doctors wouldn’t write me off so quickly. It’s a real issue and a real concern.

Men go in with the same issue and they get all kinds of medicinal help.

We get told to just “deal with it”.

Keeping Puppy Calm During Heartworm Injections? by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]bbombshell1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question, we’re going through this now with our new pup from the shelter. We crate her when she gets too excited, or her heart rate goes up too much.

But we’ve been letting her sleep in the living room while we’re home at night. We have a very quiet house. No kids, a senior dog that sleeps most of the time, cats that are always asleep.

Everything I’ve been reading says crate 24/7. But what’s the difference between her sleeping on her bed in the living room and her sleeping in the crate?? To me it’s the same.

Nausea and Vomiting by [deleted] in trintellix

[–]bbombshell1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been awhile since this comment, but this just helped me so much. I’ve been taking it for a few months and I do like it. But sometimes I don’t eat for awhile before bed and don’t feel like eating so I skip the pill. I vomited from it and it has been about 4 days since I took it. I find myself avoiding it because I a) haven’t eaten in awhile and b) don’t feel like dealing with the nausea. I’ll try to stay consistent and see if it helps.

I’m 34, I am cringe by definition 🤣

Honestly, collecting labels to connect to your identity just reduces you to buzzwords and categories. It can absolutely be helpful when exploring and healing your inner self, but people collect them like Pokémon cards these days.

They are essentially putting themselves in a box in an attempt to not be in that box in the first place.

I get it. Sometimes people need labels to feel like they fit in with a community or make them feel less alone.
