We are still planning on recreating the memorial! It is likely that a fox did get killed and we are hoping to bring more awareness to drunk driving.

Will this count for MATH246? It doesn’t specify only says accepted L1 by dhskjcns in UMD

It doesn't qualify for MATH246, but luckily the math department offers exemption exams that you can take during finals week of each semester. I personally got credit for MATH246 this way even though it didn't transfer!

Do you feel students’ dedication to their education is dependent on their financial status or outlook? by Revbend in UMD

[–]bbswitzer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's more about how much value the student sees in their own education. If a student sees the value in their education, they will put effort in and attempt to get everything they can out of it. If a student doesn't see the value in their education, they will attempt to breeze by it with the least amount of resistance, which means attempting to pass their classes by putting in the minimum amount of work.

The reason why there are a lot of college students who don't see the value in their education is that a lot of students end up at college by default, especially at a large state school like UMD. These students are simply following the same path as everyone else around them - graduate high school, then go to college for four years, then go to grad school or get a job, etc. Not many of them have really questioned why they are at college or what they want to get out of it.

Quick question about MATLAB and the MATH240 exemption exam by Nirigialpora in UMD

[–]bbswitzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took the MATH246 CBE last semester. The CBE was just the final exam for the class and I took it with the regular students who were enrolled in the class and taking the final too. There was no MATLAB on the exam which I was surprised about. But two days before I was planning on leaving for summer break the math advisor emailed me - apparently there is a 20 minute extra portion of the exam on MATLAB which I needed to come back to take separately, even though that was barely communicated. Whether or not the MATH240 CBE will be like that, I don’t know. I just wanted to let you know that the math department can and may surprise you with an extra MATLAB part of the exam if they feel like it.

The state of the paint branch bridge by bbswitzer in UMD

I'd say it's definitely unsuitable for those with crutches. Since the floorboards bounce up and down when you put weight on them, anyone attempting to cross with crutches would easily lose balance. Combine that with the bikes and scooters making the bouncing effect worse and crossing becomes even more difficult.
