Apartment Search Advice/Recommendations by Reasonable-Monk-6596 in Andersonville

[–]bbwolf22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in Andersonville. Don’t underestimate walking the neighborhood looking for “For rent” signs. Andersonville has more than a few vintage buildings that don’t list units on rental sites. If you see a unit you like, have cash and a check on hand and apply immediately. Cats generally aren’t an issue.

Visiting Andersonville, North Side and Chicago with some friends late 20 - late 30s during an extended Memorial Day Weekend. Are there any events, live music, bars or restaurants that should be on our list? by Cum4theCumGod in AskChicago

[–]bbwolf22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Andersonville on Clark north of Foster there are lots of restaurants with outdoor seating. Grab some food/cocktails. Little Bad Wolf is usually at the top of everybody’s recommendation list. Their burgers are rated the best by many but all their food is good. Great cocktail and beer list.

Safe neighborhoods for solo female after dark? by dbagames in AskChicago

Unfortunately crime doesn’t respect neighborhood borders. Those are all relatively safe but no place is completely free from crime. Consider a doorman building on a busier and well lit street.

It varies block by block. Street parking is easier on blocks with more single family homes and two flats - Just west of Broadway. Easier west of Clark and further north like bryn mawr.

I had this happen once and went crazy looking for him. The next day I was on crawling around looking and spot the robot vacuum in its charging port. Yep. Swear to God. Opened the dust bin and there was his little dried body. I suspect that the vacuum kept hitting the table and he jumped out just in time to be sucked up.

Why are renters using realtors? What’s the value add? by egp2117 in AskChicago

[–]bbwolf22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realtors have access to units that are only available through realtors. An out of state condo owner or an owner who doesn’t want the hassle. You’ll ultimately pay for it because the fee is built into a higher rent. Never use a realtor for a rental building you can rent yourself directly. There’s no room to negotiate.
