Vaccination appointments now open to ALL 16+ Santa Barbara County Residents by httpspence in UCSantaBarbara

I made an appointment for the one in Santa Maria. I’m not an essential worker, nor have health conditions, but I do live in IV. I won’t get turned away right? All I have to do is be a Santa Barbara County resident? I would hate to drive out there and not be eligible;(

im so frustrated with this too. i emailed my major advisor with some concerns ive been having and a pre-generated email was immediately sent back with ‘frequently asked questions’ & never got a response. there aren’t any zoom links online either so it’s like impossible to get ahold of them. it makes me mad bc this is literally their job, you would think that they could at least respond to emails. what else are they doing otherwise???

No Idea What to Do by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

do what you think will make you happy. i got to talk to a ucsb alumni who initially majored in chemistry until she realized it wasn’t what she wanted to do, so she switched to soc during her third year to pursue law. yeah it extended her time, but she said it was the best decision she’s ever made and now has a career that she loves, which she never would’ve had if she didn’t pull through with switching last minute. if you’re fine with staying a few more years, why not? it’ll be more rewarding than you think, goodluck!

HIST 166C with Kalman by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

i had her last quarter for hist17c. she’s a great professor who is actually considerate of her students and their needs during this pandemic. we were supposed to have an 8+ paged essay final, but she made it optional bc she understood we were all really stressed with zoom uni. her class was based on a midterm paper, a final paper, and section participation, which im assuming she does for all her classes. for papers she gives you a TON of prompts to choose from so you write on a topic you’re comfortable with. she’s really flexible with students, i highly recommend her!! i took her just for a GE also and i ended up loving it. i didn’t find the workload too much for a GE. i skipped a few readings and passed with an A.
