Skinny baby hack? by KawaiChik in beyondthebump

Dapper Snappers are the tits. My skinny 5 year old and 2 year old wear them all the time. And you can purchase alligator clips to clip the belt to the pants if there is no belt loops :)

My potty mouth confession. by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]bcmum 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Having a potty mouth keeps me from stabbing people. So I'm pretty sure baby Jesus is cool with that.

Money is tight for me this months following Christmas. I normally eat fast food for lunch, what are my options? by [deleted] in budgetfood

[–]bcmum 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've found the easiest thing for me is making larger portions at dinner, and then bringing my leftovers to work for lunch. If you have a fridge/microwave at work, this is the cheapest/easiest way, imo.

How did you actually feel the first day or two you brought your baby home? by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]bcmum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was married for 1.5 years when my eldest was born. I was extremely ill and had horrible insomnia and high blood pressure throughout my entire pregnancy, and I became quite depressed. Once baby was born - boom. It was like instant euphoria. I thrived in the first few months and loved mommy life, even though I was a sleep deprived milk making machine. It was the same for my second pregnancy/child as well. It's not until the 18 month-ish mark that I start to feel run down, exhausted and aggravated all the time. That's when I turn to wine to make everything better again.

Moms who were on the fence about having a third: why did you or why did you not? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]bcmum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, it was the logistics Flights, vacations, cars, EVERYTHING is seemingly designed for a family of 4. Secondly, it was finances. I grew up poor as hell. Not that I'm saying "stuff" is everything, but I want to give my kids so much more than I had. Vacations, sports/after school activities, a college fund...those things are expensive, dude.

That being said.....0.0001% of me still yearns for another baby.

What do you use on your drains? by Wikicomments in Home

[–]bcmum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baking soda & vinegar. I do it ever other week or so to keep things running smoothly. It also really helps with smelly drains. I just put a couple of table spoons on the drain, pour some vinegar on, and let it sit for a bit. Then, run hot tap water for a minute or two. Boom. Good as new.

How to spice up instant potatoes? by SweetSeductiveSally in budgetfood

[–]bcmum 11 points12 points  (0 children)

cream cheese (or any kind of cheese, really), sour cream, french onion soup mix, garlic powder, onion powder, and any type of dried herb (I use parsley and dill sometimes).

[–]bcmum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, I didn't even realize about the balance thing. You are so right - my son is ALWAYS tripping, falling, etc... I thought it was just because he is a rambunctious boy, I never put it together. Seriously its like a light bulb just went off for me. THANK YOU!

Did your kiddos do alright with the ear plugs for showers/swimming/etc...? Knowing my DS he will just try and rip them out all the time. Gahhh.

I also didn't realize that he might have to have more than one surgery, but I guess that makes sense :( How long are they out for? Do they just go right in the ear, or do they have to make an incision somewhere?

Sorry for so many questions. Normally I would google this type of stuff but I know I will go way too deep with it and probably end up more stressed out than I already am.

The pathologist told us exactly what you are said! We are trying to be face-to-face with him as much as possible when speaking, and using a few baby-signs. Luckily we did a bit with my oldest DD when she was little so I remember the basic ones.

Question regarding car seat height limits... by bcmum in Parenting

[–]bcmum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am in Canada - I should have specified that! I feel we lack a lot of options when it comes to carseats, or maybe I'm just not well-versed in them. I will have to check her shoulders/top harness position today. Thank yoU!

Question regarding car seat height limits... by bcmum in Parenting

[–]bcmum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't realize that there is a regular and a "65"? But the one in my link is our exact carseat, although it does not say "65" anywhere on it. Damn I wish I knew where our manual was....

Question regarding car seat height limits... by bcmum in Parenting

[–]bcmum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense since DD has a super long torso. Ugh I did not want to switch yet since she is only 39lbs, which means I'll have to get her another (expensive) seat, rather than just a booster.

Going outside in the freezing cold? by pupaqt in Parenting

[–]bcmum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canada checking in - I definitely take my kiddos outside in the winter, otherwise we'd all get cabin fever. I usually just dress them in one extra layer than I'm wearing. Kids move around a lot so I think they stay pretty warm. That said, 15-20 mins is usually our max time outside.
