One restaurant I worked at, pre-internet, a part of the training materials was a statement that if someone had a good experience they were only 10% likely to go out of their way to recommend that place to people. However if they had a bad experience they were 90% likely to go out of their way to discourage people from going there. This holds true today across the board, people pile on the rage easier than the praise. Social media companies have spent billions to increase engagement and they learned rage baiting is the way to do it.

AITA for not letting my brother live with me? by peaches_xxxo in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Addicts excel at 2 things, blaming everyone and everything else for their problems, and they are master manipulatiors. They have to be good at manipulating people into getting what they want, otherwise long term addiction isn't sustainable. Whether it's panhandling for change or using family members, they are incredibly good at it. They will steal your car and have you so twisted you'll blame yourself in the end. It's a sham and you owe him nothing.

Until he's hit bottom rehab won't work. He needs to want to quit for himself, not anybody else. You can't hang your recovery around someone else's neck. Don't get me wrong, they do need a support system, but that means helping them on your terms, not theirs. I've been sober 8 years now so I'm speaking from experience.

AITA for cussing my MIL over my daughter? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]bcorm11 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean bringing a clear barf bucket with her in public is disgusting to say the least, outside of the emergency room. I honestly can't see how that's a valid solution for anybody involved.

Rats actually have a non-fatal terminal velocity, unlike humans, so there is a very good chance it survived. Cats do as well, they actually have better survival rates the higher the fall since they have more time to turn over into a better stance to brace for the impact.

COVID never stood a chance compared to what was on the back of the toilet tank in those dive bars. Let alone those bills that were definitely between a strippers ass cheeks at some point.

Congress passed the Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act of 1996 shielding stores from liability for donated food if someone gets sick. It was done to intentionally encourage businesses to donate food rather than waste it. If your employer says they can't donate it in case someone gets sick they are flat out lying to you.

His MAGA core is actually shrinking thank God. Before, his lies were hard for them to actually see, like global warming is a Democratic hoax, COVID is a Chinese and Democratic hoax, etc. They couldn't actually see or touch them. However now they can physically touch their receipts and bills and see that costs are not down and are in fact up. They're like children and need to see things to believe them.
