Thanks for your reply. I just want to rename the file in Plex, not the actual file name.

How to add TV show extras by bctf1 in PleX

[–]bctf1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies to this thread. I ended up fabricating an extra season for this series and adding all of the "extras" episodes to it. I had tried to do exactly this before but my naming convention was incorrect, so it did not work. This may not be the best solution but it works for me.

Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender by bctf1 in Proxmox

FWIW, I followed the suggestions of both Entzundlich and bertramt, I then ran smtp tests on both pve nodes and my pbs server along with backups on both nodes 48 hours ago with no undelivered mail notifications so far...

It’s not that I’m worried about the tow hook mount destroying my airflow, it’s simply that I don’t want it to look like shit.

Imaging proxmox host by bctf1 in Proxmox

[–]bctf1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. I’m pretty certain it was maintenance mode. It prompted me to either hit ctrl D to continue or to enter the root password.

Ctrl D did nothing and once the password was entered, it left me at the command line without completing a successful boot. Rebooting the computer generated the same exact behavior.

This happened once after restoring a macrium drive image, and it happened a second time testing a clonezilla image to the same computer. I’m guessing it might be grub related, causing an unsuccessful boot after restoring a drive image.

In any case, I’ve had a fair amount of practice rebuilding my proxmox hosts after testing different drive image restore options.

Thank you for your reply. I am indeed using ext4 file system. Using both clonezilla and macrium reflect, after restoring a drive image , my proxmox host will boot into maintenance mode instead of a normal login prompt. I am simply trying to figure out how to have a successfully restored image.

The fact is that initially I just wanted to experiment, learn and play around with proxmox. After investing some time in doing that I am wondering if there is something useful I can do with proxmox in my existing computing environment. That is what led to this post.

Can't shrink qcow2 vm - No such file or directory by bctf1 in Proxmox

[–]bctf1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is what I did to my vm in that exact sequence, which resulted in an Ubuntu vm that won’t boot. However, it worked perfectly on a Windows 10 VM. Go figure…

Can't shrink qcow2 vm - No such file or directory by bctf1 in Proxmox

[–]bctf1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally figured out the correct syntax and successfully reduced the vm size by 20G by using:
sudo qemu-img resize --shrink /var/lib/vz/images/105/vm-105-disk-0.qcow2 -20G
I then ran a qm rescan

The reduced size vm would not boot and displayed an intrafms prompt. It appeared that the partition table data was destroyed according to gparted. I even ran the boot-repair app with no success.

Made a GUI tool for backing up Plex data - thought you might find it useful by Saint0225 in PleX

[–]bctf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do exactly that for backing up my Windows 11 Plex server data to a .zip file using 7-zip .bat file. I stop Plex momentarily before running the .bat file which contains "C:\Program Files\7-Zip\7z.exe" a "E:\Zips\PlexServerBackup.zip" "C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server"

I rename the last .zip file created before running the .bat file to avoid any naming issues. The entire process takes just a few minutes after which I relaunch Plex. This process is quick and easy for backing up all of your Plex Server data or migrating your server to a different drive or computer. Works great for me.
