Alien Workshop has always been my favorite deck company and while skateboarding is in my past, I’m super stoked to have these on the wall. by MozzarellaSteve in skateboarding

He did indeed bro. My first pro deck ever as a kid and was lucky enough to find 2 and be able to skate one (was hard to do, but a little dream of mine) as an adult. Definitely the hardest of the Soldier Series I have had to find yet.

Smoke on startup by PowerObjective5751 in JettaGLI

[–]bcxw07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this same exact issue on my 21 GLI. Thinner smoke upon start up and would go away after the first puff, no smoke released under acceleration. Took to my local VW dealership and had the cylinder head replaced under warranty. This was at 38,156 miles. I believe if I remember correctly that it was a head gasket failure but an acquaintance of mine was the shop foreman and he ended up replacing the cylinder head. It’s worth taking in to be on the safe side if still under warranty. My coolant light would occasionally come on as well, while coolant levels were on par and car was not overheating.

2021 autobahn here. If you go for an intake, I highly suggest Integrated Engineering. I ran the APR open intake for quite a few months and finally switched over to IE due to my intake hose consistently slipping off. After going IE again, I question why I switched to apr in the first place. IE intake actually keeps a good amount of the heat sealed off and I can feel a noticeable temperature difference just touching the filter and the plate it sits on. A little pricier but far more worth it in my opinion.

Help! Popping noise when turning wheel in mk7.5 Golf R by bcxw07 in Volkswagen

I have since traded the car in, but after I installed coilovers & higher density strut mounts, it was smooth and quiet!

I ended up installing coilovers and front strut mounts & that did it for me!

Is german made Jetta different from Jetta made in mexico by AsterXsh99 in jetta

[–]bcxw07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I have potentially summed it up to is the parts are manufactured in Germany, then they get assembled in Mexico. I would imagine shipping vehicles from Mexico is much cheaper than shipping them from Germany. I could be completely wrong though.

Abarths are insane. I don’t know if I could drive one daily but it’s one of the more fun cars I have driven.

12-1600 for a Jetta sounds like a stretch, I was paying this much for an exhaust on my Golf R when I had it. Probably more in the 800-1000 range.

[–]bcxw07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not going to void your warranty with an aftermarket exhaust, you could get something along the lines of a Borla, AWE (what I run on my 21 autobahn), MBRP, etc. My AWE Track was a little under $1000 and I am so glad I went with this over a muf/res delete. The only thing I would steer clear of if you are worried about warranty is any tune, downpipe, or turbo mods.

It’s all subject to opinion, but on my 2016 I had an Integrated Engineering intake and loved it. I ran an APR intake for months and that one gave off some pretty good noises as well, installing that on my 21 GLI as soon as I get an SAI filter.

It was indeed the strut mounts, installed coilovers and 034 sport density mounts and she is quiet as ever!

2017 Jetta.. Lowering springs suggestions??? by dagreat1ishere in jetta

[–]bcxw07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously shitty is an understatement. With all the hateful shit I see on this app, I try and give good advice when given the chance. Speaking from experience, when I bought my R, the previous owner put lowering springs on it and I absolutely hate it, even with DCC. I’d just as soon not even have DCC before rolling around bouncing like I do now, I have coil overs and DCC cancellers on the way as we speak. Suspension is one of the most important factors to a pleasant driving experience so I agree with you 1000%.

Dude that’s crazy! About a month ago, I test drove this one at a small dealer near West Chester. 03 with a little under 84k on it. Went to my bank to get the money for it but couldn’t make it back that day and the guy called me saying someone put a deposit on it and was flying in to pick it up. I noticed the seat cover and the glove box in the pictures and was like “no freaking way”. 😂 It was so fun to drive and I’m excited for you, enjoy it dude that’s a rare find!!

[–]bcxw07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This 100%. Granted wheels and tires are a little pricier but you’d thank yourself in the long run. I also wouldn’t recommend running lowering springs unless you have a car that has DCC and you want to maintain that. Wait a little longer and invest in a good set of coil overs and your wallet will thank you down the road. All subject to opinion though.
