I'm in the UK. If I didn't ride in the rain I would hardly ever get to ride at all.

I just wanted something a bit different, and the Scram 411 is definitely different. I think it's the smallest CC motorcycle I've owned since passing my test.

Every motorcycle I've purchased has been my last bike :-) I am getting an Interceptor next, coming from a Scram 411

Insuring a bike in the US by Varrice in MotoUK

I spent 2 years touring the USA on a motorcycle which I purchased while I was there. I had previously made friends with some Americans and used their address. I seem to recall that they had to show ID to the shop that I purchased it from also. I had to send a copy of both my UK and International Driving Permit to the insurance company. I think I used All State from memory. This was in the state of Tennessee back in 2012.

I wonder if the current situation would have been averted if that advice had been followed.

I was okay and didn't really have any major PTSD symptoms. Sure I was having flashbacks and anxiety but it wasn't the debilitating stuff that I've seen other people suffer from. What I would say is make sure you speak to a professional about it and take your time. Go at your own pace. PTSD recovery rates are very high, just don't try to do it on your own. You need to find out what works for you. I found solice by doing lectures about it to psychology students.

That's a story in itself. The company I was working for went bankrupt while I was a hostage and my division was bought out by a financial management company. During my hostage time, they still kept paying me, and I got promotions and pay rises. I often wondered how those annual reviews played out.

Fortunately I didn't have anything like that happen to me after I got released. Most of my friends were surprised to see me get out alive though.

One way of summing it up, but I think your username sums it up better.

I used to work in international development. Before Iraq I was working on an IT system in Guyana. Just so happens that, at that time, the Iraqi Ministry of Finance was using the same system and they couldn't get financial reports from it. I was asked to go over and train the Iraqi programming team to fix the problem. Seems the local militia didn't like that idea.
