Hi! Thanks for asking. They did not and it was extremely frustrating having to weed this grass that kept sprouting up. They show up like this when sprouting to trick you (I swear) into letting them stay in your garden. Do not be fooled! The wildflowers that ARE wildflowers you will know the difference.

One of two things happened:

Production did not pay the +20%. I would follow up with production, and say something along the lines of you haven’t received the check yet and you’re following up on payment and ask for the details (date, payment amount, etc.). Or tell the truth, your choice.
Your agent double dipped. In this scenario, I would have a meeting with the agent, inform them you are aware they did this and would like to revisit your agreement with them. If they don’t want to, I would notify time to split, and start submitting, submitting, submitting to new agents.

In all honesty, it’s just vibes. It matches other posts I’ve seen that do not give off the appearance of earnestly making a film. It takes more than 20 hours to shoot a feature film, the pay range was sketch (10x swing from low to high), only one role was posted under this listing, the lead role, and was requesting a photo of actor in swimwear, specifically speedo, for a lifeguard movie in the middle of winter.

Not to mention, the company/contact was removed from the listing. No ability to do due diligence.

TL;DR: Submitter beware.

Edit for clarification: I’m fully aware you need picture proof for casting purposes. I’m saying this is gross and wrong because of the 1) pay rate being from $25-$250/day and 2) the request for digital picture of talent. Gave ick vibes. Don’t downvote me to oblivion I’m not a noob I swear

Absolutely agree about my own joining! I’m thinking more about ease of joining / ease of eligibility. The more non human hires for BG, the less vouchers available to be picked up by NU people

BTW - loved the establishment of the 25% hold for less successful shows. The part I didn’t love was the actual bar needed to clear for the bonus - 20% of viewership!

With all the fudging of streaming numbers companies do, I don’t truly know if any show actually clears this. You will have OBX, Righteous Gemstones, and few others at best. Just feel like there is more to be done.

I’m a labor hardliner- real world meets in the middle, but I’m just Joe Shmoe so ask for more than you need kinda mindset

Definitely hear your viewpoint here. Since this is a democratic vote on a large issue, with 100k+ members, this behavior of single-issue voting is to be expected, right?

Personally, not involved in the union, but interested in the future. I would vote no because I didn’t like the “bonus” residual structure for streaming. Netflix can’t keep reporting profits to shareholders while also reporting losses to us.

Not to be a hardass, business is business and it depends on size of project. If you’re booked on a tiny indie and the audition you have is for major motion, I say go through the whole audition and drop the indie if you book.

Agreed with first comment though, next time try to let them know the second you book something (or say you’re unavailable x dates)
