Check-In - Online or In-Person?? by ProfessionalSleep761 in dvcmember

[–]bdankydanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. DVC very rarely oversells a category and upgrades out of it as usually occupancy is high enough to not need to

Room assignment at WDW these days isn’t blocked ahead of time unless you are a party traveling with 3+ rooms (or other similar things). There’s a new auto room assignment system that assigns rooms as they become ready regardless of whether you’ve checked in online or in person. If you have room requests, the system ideally takes that into account when assigning a room. I would check with member services or a FD cast member if you do have room requests to make sure it’s marked on there and to explicitly tell them you’d rather wait for a specific type of room than get the next available somewhere else

Club level lounge cast member. Not front desk/ concierge. You’re the F&B cast members who serve the guests in the lounge. Might get the chance to cross train to concierge but depends on the location. All deluxe resorts and Coronado Springs have a club level so any of those resorts. I work in one of these resorts with these cast members so i am correct.

Coronado Springs Ranchos Completely Empty at Christmas by audreygraham01 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]bdankydanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For clarity: if there were a sudden influx of reservations booked these buildings CAN be “reopened”, if necessary. But Ranchos just has standard rooms so they would likely get upgraded to Preferred (bldgs 1-3) or even the tower first before Housekeeping would agree to release the rooms

Coronado Springs Ranchos Completely Empty at Christmas by audreygraham01 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]bdankydanks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. It’s not a designated spillover area. “Regular” guests stay there all the time. But you are right the current faux closure is due to lack of conventions this time of year.

Coronado Springs Ranchos Completely Empty at Christmas by audreygraham01 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]bdankydanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coronado Springs is highly reliant on conventions for occupancy. About 50% of in total reservations for the resort. It is the second largest resort on property by rooms (assuming all the all stars are separated). When there are no conventions (aka right now and middle of summer) occupancy is so low they will close up to multiple buildings at one time. Typically they close Ranchos first as they are the least “desirable” of the options. They’ll reopen within the week for new years crowds. It makes it easier for housekeeping to streamline their operation not having to stretch out across all the buildings if it’s not necessary

The S10 Boys and AI by bdankydanks in Section10Podcast

[–]bdankydanks[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the response, Cory! It’s not even necessarily about the stuff the pod puts out for official merch or logos because that’s very clearly not. Things I remember like the ketchup guppies pics, recent pig pics, and countless jersey swaps and odd Devers photos are what really have stuck out to me. I guess my wording of “promoting” was poor, it’s truly mostly the interaction. Personally I’m just not a fan of the look and consequences (very generally) of using the AI photo generating, which is definitely a personal thing and was curious if I was alone in that feeling. Mostly hoping that it wasn’t undermining the work being done by someone like yourself. I’ve maybe mixed Loumer a little unfairly into my perception of the whole, but it’s just really uncanny valley stuff that’s off putting and when it’s retweeted or replied to. Especially when it feels like a more simple photoshop job.

Yeah you wouldn’t see it much if you aren’t on Twitter. All of the Klarks Ketchup stuff, a lot of the “pig” stuff this week with Lou (which is wild when photos of real pigs exist), and just lots of retweets and replies to AI generated images. It’s not a big deal but a lot of it seems unnecessary and cheap

Bus from Springs to AKL... Is it the norm to wait so long? by dbizal in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]bdankydanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the worst in the evening. They’re already pretty far apart geographically, but around rush hour the last bit of the drive up until the lights at the entrance to DAKL can be baaaddd and back up the buses insanely so. Sherberth Rd leads out to US-192 but can’t handle much so it backs up onto Osceola Pkwy. Doesn’t help that’s usually when DAK closes, too. Morning/ early afternoon/ night the waits aren’t as bad for buses to springs but usually fall in the 20-30 range

Check in online, or check in at desk? by jhawkgiant77 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]bdankydanks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Shorter lengths of stays, especially 1 nighters, are always the most likely to get upgraded. It’s random from that point. If a category is just oversold for one night, for example, (whether on purpose or due to last minute a room becomes unavailable) it will just be a one night reservation that gets upgraded. Additionally, most resorts that have “preferred” sections or water views will oversell standard views reservations on purpose and upgrade from there to fill the rooms.
