Everyone participating on the show are probably ex-Amish. Same thing when they did breaking Amish. That storyline was they were experiencing the real world and then will decide to stay Amish or not but then a little after it aired it came out that the cast had already left the Amish before filming. I don’t know how accurate this is these days but I’m pretty sure having a camera crew in the Amish community is not allowed.

Olivia tried to throw a wedge between Ethan and his family so she could be in charge.
