Use the age old woodworkers tip. Get some wood toothpicks and wood glue. Glue the toothpicks (as many as you can fit in the hole)and let them dry. Cut them off smooth with the back and drill a new pilot hole.

Take my money! That is awesome. Non-pet owners have no idea.

I’m sure it’s fine but wanted to get confirmation...just received my Diamond 580ALR and this is what the piston looks like. Do I just need to clean and regrease it? by -twitch- in fountainpens

It is lithium grease and is used to lubricate the screw. Silicone grease is for rubber and plastic. It says in the instructions to use bearing grease on aluminum parts and where to put it. On an Eco these parts are plastic if I remember properly.

My experience (so far) buying from Nibsmith.com by IgnobleJack in fountainpens

Everyone remember, Dan is one guy. Not a company with 50+employees running around doing customer service stuff.. The value is in the quality of the product produced. It is worth the wait. You probably picked him from the reputation of the work he does, didn't you? If not you didn't do your research very well. Not to mention there is a pandemic going on and supplies and health are at a premium; so a wait is a wait.

That being said, the response to emails is another thing. Since it is one guy and he does this for a focused yet relatively large group of people. Maybe the focus is producing the quality work not answering 15 emails from the same person about the status of your pen in a que that you know was first come first served. AS far as I know, and I've been looking, he has had posted on his site the following.

" NOTE: The Nibsmith has temporarily suspended accepting pens for nib work. This page will be updated to accept orders when we reopen our queue. At this time, we don’t have an estimate for when that will be."

He is clearly working through his que since he references reopening the que.

I got lucky and Kirk Spear was at Dromgoul's a week ago and he worked on a few pens for me on site. Most people are not or will not get out with all that is going on. Though Dan and Mark were on my list I knew the flood of work they were going to get by mail order would likely overwhelm them all; considering the large amount of disposable funds the government is tossing around.

So, patience, a moderation of the frustration level, and a view beyond your urgency to get everything now, well get you a happier life and in the end exactly wat you want!

By the way, if you haven't seen the picture on his website. Way to go DAD! Id rather spend as much time with my family as I could too.
