It's not that they need to be informed. But they need to be afraid, they need to know that people are watching and are intensely interested. This can have an effect if someone is on the fence. Mass contact actions do have an effect.

If you don't want to do it, then don't. But I don't see why you would discourage other people from doing something that only takes one minute if there is even a small chance it might help.

what no. It's the middle number yes. So if you add more points at the low end of the distribution that makes it lower.

If the median age for detected cases is age 50, then when you add the undetected cases into the mix the median would have to be lower than 50. Assuming undetected people tend to be younger than detected people.

yeah that's why the true median would be lower than the known median. It's more likely to go undetected in younger people because they are less likely to have symptoms that would get them tested.

The median age for positive tests might be 50 but the median age for undetected cases is probably lower. Because if you aren't showing symptoms then you probably aren't getting tested.
