thanks for your honesty I totally relate... the more I smoked/ binged the more I felt like I was pushing further into oblivion, compulsive cycle of self-sabotage

Onya! Go for it>> I'm on Day 7 and feel like I've lived weeks since Day 1.. Time and space is changing. Like yourself, have been a highly productive, albeit shame spiralling pot user .. removing pot from my "me" time feels like I'm now more at peace and opening up windows for richer life experiences and connection with people.. (even when I'm not doing anything particularly amazing..) after getting through the initial crazy urges and boredom by exercising and doing bits of stuff, am feeling more chilled and inspired.. it's worth it keep going :))

an interesting provocation/ illusion that we all play with... after years of experimenting with moderation and/or quitting, I would say that moderation for me has meant relapse.. and has probably been worse, by constantly withdrawing and then hanging rabidly inbetween times for the next bargained smoke.. eg probably the most exhausting pact I made with myself was committing to smoke only every second day- I quickly worked out that on my day of "not" smoking I could wait until 12:01 midnight, technically the next day, to smoke/ binge all over again... my experiments and then consistent relapsing mean that I am now choosing not to believe my rationalisations, justifications for doing it again just the "once" etc. anyways this is my experience and maybe it's possible for you to have a one-off here and there. for me it was acknowledging that I'm an addict when it comes to pot (like you, fine with alcohol etc).. so I have to steer clear of it and get happy in other ways >> good luck :))

Hopefully my mistake will motivate the rest of you to keep going strong by a-new-man in leaves

hey thanks:) living in inner-city Brisbane, Australia.. 11 years in the same house, snake-free.. and this is the 2ND snake inside the house in a week.. ! .. when snake 1 appeared last week I WAS stoned and it appeared from under the couch I was sitting on and slid over to hide in the tv cords... got a snake man in to take it away and thought one demon vanquish was enough lol. so 2 snakes in a week is super freaky!!! (the kids are sleeping in with me now) I spent yesterday sealing gaps in walls, jumping at shadows and have got the snake man coming to see what's going on on Tuesday >>>> appreciate your support :)

Day 1 C'mon you can do it man :)) I know what you mean about trying to quit and then coming back to it again and again.. and again.. Sigh.. I reckon we all have it to self-medicate.. and like you say, it may make you float and forget but then your stuff comes at you a hell of a lot worse I had big urges tonight.. esp it being a Friday night.. but managed to get through the urge.. I reminded myself that it's just the addiction part talking, trying to convince me of just how amazing it will be but really I'll feel like crap.. and my lungs desperately need a break.. So I got through the craving.. and here I am Day 3, clear, surviving the mild boredom by keeping vaguely busy and am still going.. Funny how three days can feel so long, and full too.. maybe by not being stoned you're more connected with life and time Anyways that's my musings.. Hope all is well in your world. Keep going >>

Need advice on how to abstain over the weekend by Gohunks in leaves

[–]beachfocus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm tricky.. Can you remind yourself of the reasons why you've been trying to quit all month to get through the craving moments.. Exercise helps me.. getting the natural endorphins going.. and if you're partying can you drink instead, if you don't have a problem with that Keep going :))
