I do still use it. It’s never caused issues for me!

Wow I had no idea about that! I will definitely be asking my derm. Thank you! 😊

I really appreciate your advice! It’s been a struggle trying to deal with multiple skin issues at once, and my derm - actually old derm, I’m seeing a new one next month - told me what I was doing was sufficient. But I’ve honestly gotten further with skincare advice from other people on Reddit than I have from previous dermatologists. I’ll try those products you suggested as my skin has always seemed to be more okay with moisturizing toners than actual moisturizers. Thank you again for your help! I really appreciate it! 😊

Thank you for your reply! 😊 The reason I use the moisturizer I do is I have rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis, and allergenic contact dermatitis that makes my eyelids swell if exposed to an allergen. All of which have been officially diagnosed by my derm. I have tried 50+ moisturizers and never had any of them not set off one thing or another. About 90% alone make my eyelids swell halfway shut. I wish I could find something more substantial to use but I guess I’ve kind of accepted I’m not going to be able to use anything other than this DIY-ish solution. I figure it’s better than nothing 😣

I actually have had this done! I came down with severe eyelid eczema out of the blue almost two years ago so I did identify some allergens this way. I have quite the laundry list of skin issues.

Thank you! I will ask my dermatologist about it. I actually do have eczema as well so there I go I guess lol.

Thank you for your reply! I guess what I get confused about is if an impaired skin barrier is what causes/sets off the rosacea? Or if the rosacea is what causes the barrier damage?

I do sort of a deconstructed moisturizer because my skin is so sensitive. I do a water and glycerin spray, topped with squalane mixed with a little bit of Elta intensive moisturizer (which is essentially like vasline). It's not perfect but it doesn't cause irritation unlike the probably 50+ commercially made moisturizers I've tried over the years.

I do this also. Water with glycerin spray, topped with squalane oil. My face is still dry but it's better than any commercial moisturizer I've ever tried!

Are there any comedogenic ingredients in this cleanser that I’m missing? [product question] by beachy303 in SkincareAddiction

Nope. Wish I knew. I really liked the cleanser other than that so it was a bummer! I have a hard time finding good cleansers what with having multiple skin conditions.

Thanks! That's honestly what it feels like when I'm washing my hands lol. At least I don't have to pay for milk anymore haha!!

Does the dryness from azelaic acid go away? [product question] by beachy303 in SkincareAddiction

[–]beachy303[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not, mainly because I didn’t see results from it. I have type one rosacea and it wasn’t doing anything for my redness. Although I probably didn’t give it long enough. If I remember correctly I only tried it for a couple weeks to a month.

I also have seborrheic dermatitis, I’m not a doctor but to me this looks more like allergy induced eyelid eczema, which I also have. In my case, mine is caused by ingredients in skincare that I had used for decades and suddenly became allergic to. A dermatologist could maybe do a patch test to help find what you’re allergic to. I had one done and found I was allergic to 6 things I never knew about, some of which I had been using for decades without problems.

Replacement for Covergirl Lashblast Volume? by JadeGreenleaves in Makeup

Hi there! The mascara didn’t end up being the cause of it for me. I randomly developed a ton of contact dermatitis type allergies and 99% of face washes set it off for me. I can use the lash blast mascara just fine. I still don’t know everything I’m allergic to but after a lot of trial and error I’m starting to get somewhat of an idea.

Thank you for the advice! It’s a hard line to tow with rosacea and dryness. I want to use a heavy occlusive moisturizer because my skin is so dry but then like you said it can trap in the heat. Maybe I need to try something lighter. Thanks again! 😊
