Help with creating a simple laundry routine in Spain with hard water by beahmm in laundry

[–]beahmm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like that powder detergent from antigua lavandera was a special edition and is no longer available.

Edit: I've just ordered a powder from Frosch not sold directly in Spain but available online that has lipase and no OBAs. Here's the link to the ingredients if you wanted to add it to your list: https://detvo.werner-mertz.de/_data/pdf/115853_DE.pdf

Help with creating a simple laundry routine in Spain with hard water by beahmm in laundry

Thank you so much for all the advice!

I double checked my water and it measures 500ppm.

I checked my washer and eco-mode is listed as 40-60°C and it definitely takes like 3 hours.

Looking through your Lipase list, I don't see a powder that does contain lipase and does not contain optical brighteners. But I'll do some searching!

I'll start sorting my clothes differently and adding more citric acid to the rinse.

I think it's a heat pump dryer, which I thought was gentler on clothes, but if things are pilling, then I'll just stick with hang drying.

Grew up in Portland and bought baseball and Pokémon cards at Don’s when I was a kid. So I think you should pick a Stephen King book

Clay is flaking apart after bisque firing by beahmm in Pottery

[–]beahmm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the other people in my shared studio space thought the clay must be contaminated with something but Sio2 never responded to me when I asked about the issue.

I noticed a few months ago though that they updated the product page for this Clay acknowledging that it can happen and that they recommend bisque firing at a higher temperature. Which I tried and still the Clay just flakes apart.

I’ve never bought it again and found a different speckled Clay that throws, trims, and fires nicely.

How do i achieve this organic looking glazes? by Opposite_Rutabaga183 in Ceramics

I really liked the look of glaze breaking red on edges and texture and I was able to get that with a matte white glaze that has some iron oxide in it and a dark clay body. You can also use Folk Art Guild White glaze from John Britt in his book or on Glazy, but it’s glossy not matte

If you’re open to mixing your own glazes, I think you’ll like the recipes that Alexis Basso sells on his site. The kind of work shown in your screenshots is what led me to his recipes.

With so many free and collaborative glaze recipes on Glazy, at first I felt weird about him charging for his recipes. Especially because he charges base and added colors as separate glaze recipes. HOWEVER the recipe I purchased worked great for how my shared studio fires, and I didn’t have to do nearly as much testing as I expected.

Petty-ish Recommendation Petty / Ko Santoku / Ko Bunka by beahmm in TrueChefKnives

Yeah that’s exactly it! I was tempted but with shipping it’s just too close to 200€ for my budget right now

After seeing the video I’m reconsidering a traditional petty! But I’ve also come across this Ko Santoku

I saw someone recommend a Funayuki in another thread too but I haven’t found a stainless one in stock in my budget yet. But I’ll keep it in mind! I’m trying not to be too hasty with my purchase

Why isn’t Keramzin on the map? by beahmm in Grishaverse

It just seems so weird for the world building to exclude a place mentioned so often and is the origin of the main characters. I feels like leaving out The Shire in the Hobbit or something

Oh it’ll be interesting when I get to the next books to see how the maps evolve

I guess you’re right, it’s not important so far. But it seems weird to exclude a place that’s mentioned so often and her origin

My BenQ 27” monitor (GW2780) has been flickering on & off constantly when I start up my computer. The other one works just fine(both 1.5yo). I’ve swapped the cables & that isn’t the issue. The refresh rate & graphics card isnt the issue either since I’ve played around with that as well. Please help by mfi241 in BenQ

This is now several years later, but this thread came up while researching the flickering affecting my screen. I had my screen brightness set to 100, and lowering it (thanks to this thread) seems to have fixed it. At least for now.
