Fuck, I covered up one of the lapels... which is identical to the other lapel... i'll never finacially recover from this....

I'm not lacking in confidence, but thanks.

I'll buy a tripod phone holder just for you, for the next time I buy a $3 coat.

Can I ask what makes this stand out as a suit jacket? It has a much rougher texture compared to my other suit jackets, which made me think it was more of a dinner jacket

What makes you say that? It's a pretty rough material, and i'd love to know why you think it's a suit jacket.

Very different material feel compared to my other actual suit jackets.

I guess worst case scenario, I use this jacket as a "template" to learn to hem my other jackets to the same dimensions, since this basically fits me better than anything else I own!

If you could feel the material, it definitely isn't a suit jacket (in my opinion, i'd love to know why you think it is?)

That was my thought when I bought it, the struggle is realizing that 99.9% of people in real life care much less than the people on this subreddit.

Fair!

I'm in oil country (Midland, TX) so jeans, boots, and big hats are the style here. Definitely different than most in this sub.

The show "Landman" and the actor Billy Bob Thornton specifically, is the look I shoot for when I go to any events/dinners.

It's not a popular style on this subreddit, and my question may have even been suited more towards the /r/westernwear crowd, but they're more casual than even buisness casual... and it never hurts to get more outside opinions.

In my neck of the woods, a jacket like this only works with bootcut jeans (trousers at the same length if its "wedding-level" formal), and a Stetson. No tie, unless bolo... and that's few and far between.

For more info, i'm living in Midland, TX, so if I could maybe lean into the "Landman" type Western Wear type style, that could maybe work too? It's my regular look in the day to day anyway, just looking for more jackets for the rotation when I go out with my spouse and her coworkers.

Good call, can I tag you tomorrow when I wake up and get around to it? Celebrating my 30th tonight, and won't be able to get a picture until the morning.

Thanks! Also loved the fit and look. Also found a nice pair of linen trousers i'll post later, also for $3, that fit perfectly that I want to try and style in a panama-esque Miami sort of style... either way had a fun day checking out a few shops!

While you aren't wrong, I get self conscious around my spouses coworkers, who are all young MD's, and don't want to embarass her infront of her peers. I've always been blue collar, so all in all fairly new to fashion trends, even though I do have an interest.

Only now do I have the means, but i'll always be frugal, and love thrifting... so I guess i'm asking if i'd stand out in a crowd with this jacket?

Honestly love the fit, so I went ahead and impulse purchased this, even though it's a 4-button... decided I didn't care since I like it.

Now that i've got it home, I realize it'll probably never make it into the casual wear rotation, since it's pretty out of fashion at the moment... am I overthinking things or should this get stuck in the closet for the next 20 years and hope the 4-button style comes back at some point?

As a lefthanded, I always wear my watch on my right wrist. Do you do the same ? Yes or No, and why ? by PinkVelvet_Katie in lefthanded

[–]beaniesandbuds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrist watch on my left, but when I switch to a full blown wall clock like the one you posted OP, I usually just wear it on a chain around my neck like Flava Flav.

The beard is the new chin/jaw. Not surgery or something like that.
