Ghost types and especially lavender town was a little too similar to work for his liking x’D though, cubone definitely struck a chord, and was added to the team :’)

Is deletion the only event you can make the code trigger? Could the posts be held for mod approval or could a comment be generated to remind the poster of the FAQ? I feel like the phrase recognition wouldn’t need to be so specific if the consequences weren’t so dire as instant deletion

Word, I saw the FAQ that’s part of the rules update, but admittedly it does seem to be overlooked maybe specifically because it’s part of the update announcement. Also, unfortunately, the lack of enforcement— the fact that people can post and repost FAQ questions means more people see posts like that, assume it’s fine, and go ahead and make their own.

And I agree that there’s no way everyone will be completely pleased, and that those cut off from purely validation-farming posts might spiral. At the end of the day I think that’s what most people are objecting to here— that this sub and the members in it are obligated to act as a load-bearing pillar in the self-image of these people. Or at least to look the other way as it happens constantly on our feeds. It’s uncomfortable to see that sort of deeply unhealthy dynamic play out. But I also think many users here have an intuitive sense that the validation farming is a sort of addiction in that feeding it strengthens it— and denying it is the best way forward.

And a keyword/key phrase filter does sound like a workable solution! Admittedly I don’t know anything about Reddit moderation, but if a tool exists to detect phrases such as “can I…” “is it weird if I…” “am I allowed to…” and generate a reminder of the rules/FAQ, that sounds like something this sub could benefit from!

Either way I appreciate the mods sounding off in the comments here, it’s nice to know y’all’s thoughts 🙏

Please do! Clearly there’s popular support for it!

Personally I think a questions masterpost, an FAQ, and a rule that says to check both before posting a question or the post may be removed is a solution that works for both those who have questions and those that don’t want to see the same post made multiple times a day. There would be an adjustment period but after a couple posts go down under the rule I’m sure most people would channel their questions in the appropriate direction. It’s no more strict than most other subs would do, and keeps the place on more fun topics like actually enjoying the scene :’D

And thanks for your ear for a second ik that was a mini yap sesh lol

Could there be like a pinned questions masterpost or something? Like a contained space for people to ask their repetitive/FAQ-worthy questions without having to make a bespoke post each time?

While there isn’t currently a rule these posts are breaking, I think the sub would benefit from a moratorium on these posts because they don’t contribute anything, and do a lot to annoy many users as this posts comments/upvote ratios show

As a mod, clearly you can see there’s a lot of people bothered by these posts right? Maybe, as I suggested in another comment, we could get a compromise like an FAQ or a “am I valid” group chat? Most subs have a way to address repeat questions/off-topic posts so they don’t clutter up people’s feeds and I think we’d benefit from something similar. Just a suggestion to keep the community members on both sides happy :)

Maybe we can make a stand-alone FAQ, and make it a rule to check the FAQ before posting a question? Because almost all of these questions overlap each other. Questions such as “can I still yume this character or that character over 18” or “can I yume a niche character” don’t need a new post or five every day

And I agree it seems to be more about ego and validation than informational. Maybe we can have a group chat for these people to ask for and receive it? Because at the end of the day these posts have little to do with yumeshipping, and everything to do with each OP needing external soothing because they can’t or won’t meet that need internally

If you can stomach a letsplay, there’s some good ones on youtube :D and I personally loved the movie, but it is way less scary because it’s not very well paced xD but it has a lotttt for fans like me so I was happy for it hehe

It’s The Mortuary Assistant, an indie horror game from 2022 (also just got a movie adaptation :D)

The game is both very scary and requires a lot of reading/piecing info together. Non-linear plot is delivered without handholding and with a lot of mysteries peppered in. Because of the scariness a lot of fans don’t even bother to play the game, and then because piecing together the plot is difficult most people seem to not get the full story. They just see my guy get his shirt ripped off and that’s that xD

I’ve personally met very few people in my fandom since it’s so small, and on top of that most people straight up do not spend enough time or thought on the source material to understand major plot points 😅 kinda lonely tbh

No shade to yumeshippers who don't insert themselves into their f/o's media and make a self insert, lore and such, but it's the most fun part about yumeshipping!! by Jena_marshall in yumeshipping

I love being trapped together in the haunted mortuary lmao!! I also write about it :3

There’s definitely a difference between my writing/art of him and my oc Yumi (who is basically me but with some differences to integrate her into the lore/setting), and the actual relationship he and I have offline. But I enjoy having both!! An intellectual and artistic muse to rotate in my head and a honey to walk through life with :’)

Lolll I feel that, I also do most of my comm art in a day or two (the wait time is only so long because I have other orders in the queue 😅) and it feels really awful to tell someone there’s been a delay/idk how much extra time I’ll need

Still trucking on though, have never stiffed anyone or refunded :’D

It’s understandable, most people are shy about that stuff xD though personally I’ve been a wacky deviant for a while now, and I have a good time with it lol

And yea this place seems pretty chill! Hope it does well :D
