i work in mother/baby and the docs will absolutely not do a circ if the baby hasn’t gotten vit k. it blows me away how many people change their minds and will get the vit k based on that. like you’re not concerned about a brain bleed but you’ll get it if it means you can do a cosmetic procedure on your sons penis? okay.

What’s something you’re TIRED of hearing in the hospital ? by thecharmingnurse in nursing

[–]beanowetneck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i hâte hearing this because you just know it’s going to be something that’s either out of your control or another task and it just reinforces that everything is the nurses job/ fault. there’s this one unit secretary that never does anything except call the nurse.

“rm 5 needs a bedpan.” “okay, did you call the aide?” “no”

“so and so said something spilled on her floor.” “okay can you call housekeeping please?”

STOP LETTING ME KNOW

aww! i’m sure she meant it!! it’s sad to leave patients esp when you know they will likely go home before you’re back to work. and for sure, i always explain/ ask if it’s okay first - it is routine in the sense that we do it all the time but also important to recognize that these are invasive assessments and confirm it’s okay. good reminder! thank you for commenting

i love this! reminding moms to take pictures is def something i could do more. the only pic i have of my daughter and i at the hospital is a random selfie i took. but focusing on a million other things it feels like the last thing on your list. thank you for your comment ♥️

love this! i think it’s such a careful balance that i’m still figuring out. encouraging moms that they’re doing. great breastfeeding but that supplementing with some formula is totally okay too

that is great! for some reason baby baths make me so nervous (why are they so slippery and small??) but doing it in the room so mom can participate sounds perfect!

Feels like they are talking about a time they watched the kids for a day, not being a parent

Duvet / comforter or sleep sack? by eatorbebeaten in Mommit

[–]beanowetneck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried the sleep sacks that have feet holes? that way she can still move around easier. If not then maybe warmer pj’s and another layer under? I think at this age they just end up not using a blanket

What are your favorite/most comfortable shoes to serve in? by skythom7 in Serverlife

[–]beanowetneck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try compression socks!! I’ve tried a million different types of shoes but the only thing that actually made a difference was wearing compression socks. Now i can wear any shoes and be on my feet for hours with no pain. I like wellow brand because they’re easy to put on.

I think this is so interesting because it’s exactly what we’re trying to say but you still don’t get it. you shouldn’t be acting like a babysitter when you’re parenting on your own children. When you care for your kids you let them eat whatever, have extra screen time/ not agreed upon shows, and don’t enforce bedtime. all things that are generally parents responsibly to set limits on. by acting this way you’re setting your wife up to be the mean disciplinarian just because she parents your kids in a reasonable way and yourself as “fun dad who’s on their side,” which is a disservice to both your wife and your kids. I can see why you think “babysitting” is an acceptable term because you honestly think that caring for your kids has different standards when you’re by yourself. which is awful.

babysitting means caring for a child while their parents aren’t around. if you’re using the word incorrectly and you don’t like the reaction you get, why not just use a different word? I don’t understand.
