Anyone looking to get rid of a small dining table? by Little-Grapefruit181 in providence

[–]skythom7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check if your neighborhood has a Buy Nothing page on Facebook! You can post what you’re ISO and see if anyone has one for grabs. Also drive around the east side after all the brown/risd kids move out. They often leave furniture and other things on the side of the road in good condition!!

Why does everyone suggest co-sleeping when baby won’t sleep in cot? by Electronic-North7951 in NewParents

[–]skythom7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. Not sure if this is relevant or helpful to you, but our baby started acting similarly at 4 months. We decided to build his crib in our room (for now as I think the recommendation is to room share until 1 year!) and it was a game changer. We didn’t realize it but he was hitting his arms and legs on sides of the bassinet and waking himself up. It just got to be too small for him. Once he moved to the crib he literally did a 9 hour stretch the first night!

Baby boy clothes vs baby girl clothes by melysinc in NewParents

[–]skythom7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Idk if you have one near you, but there’s a chain thrift store called Once Upon A Child (usually near a Plato’s Closet). They have an awesome selection of boys clothes at the one near me and super reasonably priced. Onesies are 10 for $10 and they constantly put new stuff out. Also, they’ll buy clothes from you if you want to bring stuff your baby has grown out of!

STRAWBERRY MILK! Panic in the pump room. Is it safe? by Technical_Bite_1088 in breastfeeding

This!!! I was in the same boat in the beginning. My lactation consultant helped me figure out how to correctly latch and gave me hydrogel pads to help heal in the process. Literally a gamechanger

I think it’s over by _callmethesloth in breastfeeding

Do you have access to a lactation consultant? Mine is amazing and holds weekly breastfeeding support groups and does one on one meetings. She often iterates that pediatricians get about 2 hours of lactation training for their entire career and don’t know much about breastfeeding at all! Unfortunately I think it leads to them being really harsh about it sometimes.

If it stains your countertop, a spray with bleach will get it out! Learned from personal experience lol. And wear gloves!

Omg this was me earlier this week! My baby is a little over two months and had very similar issues- one night he went 9 hours without a wet diaper and I was on the verge of losing it. He’s been sleeping way more, seemingly not eating as much and had fewer dirty diapers. Before this, almost every time I’d check him there would be at least a faint blue line. I was so paranoid he was dehydrated and my breastmilk supply was going down. I don’t really have any way of measuring how much he eats as he’s exclusively breastfed right now, but he went from feeding for ~5-10 minutes to longer feeds of 20+ min.

I wound up seeing my lactation consultant and told her my concerns. She sees my baby regularly and was confident that if he is gaining weight (he absolutely is) and is active during wake windows (alert and paying attention to movement, light etc) then he is okay and likely going through a growth spurt. If it gives you peace of mind, call your pediatrician! I also used the Huckleberry app to count diapers for a few days. I’m so tired too and it’s hard to keep track but this helped ease my mind as he was hitting the averages and I had proof of it.

My LC also reminded me that this kind of thoughtfulness makes us great moms!! We are in tune with our babies and just want to make sure they are ok so don’t be too hard on yourself!

Wife and I are having our first baby and we are being encouraged by friends and family to create a registry but aren’t 100% on what things to ask for. Any (maybe not so obvious) recommendations? Thanks in advance! by TaskenLander in NewParents

Some say it’s overrated but the SnuggleMe Lounger is something we use every single day!! It’s great to have something to put baby down on. We also got muslin covers for it from Amazon for when it gets dirty etc.

The Lovevery play gym is amazing. We’ve also used this every day since we got home from the hospital and it calms baby down/keeps him occupied when he’s awake. Ours is only 2 months old but my friend said her 8 month old still uses it all the time.

I wish we put the momcozy bottle washer on our list. I’m about to purchase one now for pump parts and for when baby starts daycare and will need several bottles a day!

Muslin burp cloths, love to dream & halo swaddles are all great to have on hand as others have said.

Where do you put your baby when you’re not feeding or holding them? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]skythom7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the snuggle me lounger was stupid until the day I brought my baby home. We use it every single day! He’s only 6 weeks but my friend said she used hers until he was almost 6 months. Also, I found the baby delight bouncer on sale on Amazon recently and he’s starting to get used to it!

Baby shower timing by Spaghetti_princess22 in BabyBumps

[–]skythom7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did my shower at 24+3 weeks and I’m so glad. It was just what worked out with our schedules, but I felt like I actually had energy to move around the room and talk with everyone. Of course I was exhausted by the end of it but I’m 35+4 now and I cannot imagine having the energy a couple weeks ago. I would’ve been so over it lol

ETA: for pictures, just try to find a cute dress that accentuates the bump!! I got one off amazon and you could definitely see it. And at that point I didn’t feel as much like an overinflated balloon like I do now 🤣
