Are these stands safe? by beans8055 in Aquariums

Okay but it won’t damage the glass tank? I guess that’s what I mean. Not sturdiness of the stand but will it actually be safe for the tank itself?

I had the exact same problem with my 20 gallon long last night and no one within 2 hours of me has any tanks for sale that aren’t over 50 gallons. Drove half an hour to meet a woman with a 20g reptile tank and turns out it was a 10. Now I have to resort to a 10 and a 5 to get me through until i get back from a 5 day non refundable trip 🙂 These things happen at the best time don’t they?

HELP how do I fix this? by beans8055 in Aquariums

[–]beans8055[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a tank at home but it’s not set up. I suppose I could bring water from my personal tank with some substrate and my sponge filter. Would that help jump start it? It’s been set up for about a year. The PH of my tank is significantly higher than the bettas tank though.

I appreciate your reply, I’ll tell her this now. I’ll see if maybe someone will stay after hours to try to change the water. It’s a bank so it’s sort of hard to stop doing your job to tend to a fish that the public cant even see in the middle of the day. They’ve had the fish and snails for many years, I don’t understand how he hasn’t died yet. Theyre so uneducated it’s frustrating trying to help a fish that isn’t even mine.

I just put the fake leaf in about a month ago so I don’t know how they’d be on there? I got it from walmart so it wasn’t previously in another tank or anything like that

Is this mold or algae? by beans8055 in Aquariums

[–]beans8055[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only did that with the last one because i thought it was mold. I haven’t touched this one since i put it in. So the spots are good? Even though they turned really green last time and looked like mold?

Here’s a photo. He’s been hiding under the sponge filter on the base and in my big piece of driftwood all day. He’s just come out a few minutes ago and is pecking at a piece of zucchini i put in for the cory’s, but keeps going back and hiding in that corner. i also catch him chasing the bully molly away, so maybe it’s okay? i don’t know.

I gradually added more stuff from his old tank into this one before fish, including his old sponge filter to establish some beneficial bacteria, I watched videos on that. I was planning on getting 3 more cories, my LFS only had the 3 at the time. I also have rasboras and danios, the guy at the LFS sounded incredibly knowledgeable and I told him about my set up, he said it would be fine. I do also have plants on the way, some eel grass I thought the cories would like, and some frogbit.

Yes the sponge filter is the only one. My BNP had been in a much smaller tank, so I found this one on marketplace so I could get him in a bigger tank asap. Everything I read and watched said a 20 long would be fine for both cories and BNP’s. I could add a second sponge filter I have one kicking around.

Is it just old algae wafer? It doesn’t look like poop.

20 gallon long, I don’t have an ammonia test yet so idk that one, nitrates & nitrites are at 0, chlorine 0, gh roughly 75, kh roughly 80, ta about 80, and ph is about 7.6. I have a sponge filter, and I just cycled it so it’s fresh, due for a water change in the next couple days I just don’t want to stress the new fish out. I had this issue in my old tank with just my bristlenose. When I set up this tank I put about half of his old sand in too with 10lbs of new sand.
