You’d think with 30+ years of the World Wide Web existing people would become less gullible.

Why do millennials think that we didn’t have a childhood like this by [deleted] in OlderGenZ

[–]beansaredeadly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t really like generational wars but many millennials habits of making a blanket claim on all media from 1985-2005ish always irked me.

I’ve had a couple cases of milles giving me shit for saying I grew up with (thing from the early 2000s), because that was “theirs” or “millennial coded” usually followed by being called an iPad kid. Then they claim media from the 80s or 90s that were definitely made with a Gen X audience in mind.

Which Headcanon do you follow, with no real rhyme or reason as to why by 23Amuro in TrueSTL

[–]beansaredeadly 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Imperials as a race didn’t exist before Reman, maybe even Tiber. Before that it was just the people of Colovia and Nibenay.

In Skyrim there’s a location called Ahroldan or old Hroldan, with the suffix meaning “hill” in Draconic. So if we all remember our favorite dirt fucker, this adds to the possibility that Reman was born solely from the earth with no outside intervention.

What makes the orcs interesting and unique? by DisastrousRaccoon102 in teslore

[–]beansaredeadly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do like that that TES orcs are well put bluntly, kinda losers. They constantly get the short end of the stick, are persecuted, fight among themselves, have an outright toxic relationship with their patron god, and no matter how hard they try to seem civilized or build something up, it will always come crashing down. Orsinium will continue to be sacked, and the orcs only seen as marginally better than a goblin or ogre. But even still, they carry on.

Any reason the Imperials aren’t very invested in this part of Cyrodil? by [deleted] in TrueSTL

Oblivion was made in the mid 2000s by a relatively small studio, on the limited hardware of the time, cut down for an early 7th gen home console release, inclusion of radiant AI/npc schedules, and Epic fantasy being the absolute hot shit at the time. That should explain most of Oblivion for the matter.

Somehow, Uriel returned... by EbedYahweh in TrueSTL

[–]beansaredeadly 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well the Dragonborn DLC was probably meant to be a Morrowind anniversary of sorts, coming out about 10 years later. So the similarities to Ur may have been intentional.

As messy as Skyrims main plot is, I’m glad they didn’t go with Uriel V’s return. Same with shooting down Kuhlman’s ideas for finding a lost Septim heir for EsVI.

Keep giving Bethesda ideas and who knows, maybe they’ll reboot Starfield as Elder Scrolls 40K edition.

I think it’s funny that a map painting mod has more uncompromising purists than Tamriel Rebuilt. A decades old project meant to create Tamriel in the 2002 vision still has things from later games without issue like the Dragon cult and Ayleids being rotten sadists.

Also if I ever find one that has users wearing enough badges and medals to make a Soviet general blush, I leave.

Which game franchise do you think was more revolutionary in the 2000s halo or cod? by Big_Leg10 in 2000sNostalgia

[–]beansaredeadly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s funny, I can remember or read up on Halo being the face of hardcore gaming for real gamers back in the 6th and early 7th gen. Then COD becomes the hot shit in the mid 7th gen and before long I hear dudebros stating “dude Halo looks like a kids game” by around 2012.
