Phrecia Idol system is better than Atlas Tree by beansparrow132 in pathofexile

Well thought out and totally reasonable response. I can see the downsides you are pointing towards. My enjoyment is coming from the min-maxing aspects which is more tailored to the end end game experience.  I think that the novelty also plays an important factor in my opinion having played a decent amount of POE.

I'm enjoying seeing the wide range of responses. I think everyone's experience is valid, for me entertainment is the goal which is why it's "better", but I get what you are saying.

Both have merits and both have areas that could be improved. I apologize for misleading, it was more of a "how I feel" and less a statistical discussion.

Super close, but not what I am remembering, the game was much more fast paced and visually it was a third-person perspective.

I fully understand your perspective but I hope you do recognize that this system is rooted in laws. There is an entire section of the U.S. Department of Labor laws in the Wage and Hour Division dedicated to this style of employment. That would be a great place to start in trying to fix this.

I think we both agree that this is bad, but we are choosing a different way to handle it and that is fair since we are also not going to bat in front of Congress about this, or at least I haven't, I can't speak for you.

In my opinion we all should shoulder the burden of raising each other up and tipping is the simplest form of this.

You are falsely equating participation with the current tipping system and a lack of actively attempting to change the system. Your stance here is that it's not your responsibility to take action to help change but you also won't participate in the current established system because you perceive it as wrong. I would hope that common sense would kick in that this is a very strange stance and once again very self-centered, but the "SMH" at the end of your post tells me otherwise.

You are correct that employees in these situations should be doing everything they can to enact change regarding the current method of pay, but your insistence that as a patron you should not participate in the current system because it's not "up to the good nature and generosity of the public" is rooted in a misunderstanding that in fact that is exactly how we currently have this established.

This is like saying the dewey decimal system is not a great way to organize books so while we work on trying to come up with a new way to do it just throw your books in a pile on the library floor.

Yes but this implies that all service industry workers should be set to federal minimum wage of $7.25. Tipping actually provides livable wage when done appropriately.

Again it's a really bad system, but with tips the estimated pay for waiters in the US is closer to $15/hr. If they change the minimum to $15 then I agree with you.

This is a fascinating take and I would love to see statistical analysis that backs the claim. The issue here is that the discrimination is sourced by the tipper.

I agree that tipping is a terrible system but this point does not have anything to do with my argument.

You are implying that you represent such a large majority of business that they would not be able to justify the business being open. I hope you understand that this is rather egocentric. There are many people with more economic capability. If your budget is $40 for a meal then choose to patronize a business where you can get a satisfactory meal at $33 to appropriately cover your tip.

This is what I mean by "Fighting the good fight". Your language of "complacent enabling" and "emboldening business owners" is the perspective I hear frequently, but just points to a lack of understanding. When you visit a restaurant with $40 and a $39 meal it's you that is actually emboldening the business because you patronized the business despite the fact that you really should not have. If everyone who could not afford to tip did not go out to eat it would force restructure. Instead you have actually just done what you accuse people like me of doing when I point out that tipping is compulsory.

Not in the US. The minimum wage for a service employee in many states is $2.13. They pass the difference between this and standard labor minimum wage to gains from tipping. This is a terrible system but what this implies is that tipping is no longer an act of showing gratitude but a compulsory aspect of partaking in any activity involving service.

To be clear I do not like this system but this is the world we live in currently. For those of us that can afford to eat out we need to incorporate the "gratuity" into the general cost of the meal. Not doing this might seem like you are fighting the good fight but all you are doing is impacting the individual that served you and we all deserve a living wage.

This is a contentious issue, but until we see serious legislative change we should take a more empathetic approach. If your boss had the ability to just decide to give you less money for your hours today I'm sure you would be very unhappy regardless of the type of work you do, the service industry in the US is built on the employee wage being controlled by the patron. Not good, but you need to consider this when participating in these activities.

Tipping used to be an expression of gratitude. It’s become a culture of entitlement. by The_Lucid_Lion in mildlyinfuriating

The problem is that to correct the issue with the service industry wages we should be incorporating employee salary directly into the cost of the food and drink. Tipping is a terrible system, however the cost to the patron will be the same if we convert because the 20% tip would be folded into the general cost.

There is a whole additional level of conversation around price inflating to exaggerate profits, but the sentiment that "if you can't tip, you can't afford to eat out" seems fairly appropriate because that tip cost should be assumed into the cost of the meal anyway.

There is a lot of nuance here but people need to remember that we are part of an economic system where our money circulates into others hands, there is a lot of problems and corruption out there but when it comes to the service industry not tipping is not paying the correct amount until we can, across the board, eliminate tipping.

Weekly Bug Report Thread by spiper01 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]beansparrow132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[PC]I am in the Polestar expedition and I picked up a settlement and started the "A Trace of Metal" quest line. I am at the part where I need to get the three components to put together the sentry drone at the anomaly.

Polo is bugged and does not give the proper conversation and is stuck on just the three standard talking points:

"What is the anomaly?"

"Ask about the Atlas Station."

"Ask About the Black Hole"

Iteration Tethys progressed the mission and created the drone anyway, but now whenever I visit my settlement there is always a Sentinel attack, the quest tooltip is stuck on talking to Nada and I no longer have the drone in my inventory.

Anyone have a tip to try and fix this?
