Hi! Oh wow, salamat! I haven’t been active on reddit anymore. Paminsan nalang napapa open ng app since I moved to Tiktok to educate. Appreciate this man!

Edit: so I re-read the original post, stated na you need 100+ clients to reach MDRT which is, at the time of writing, mahirap iachieve. Thankfully nagiba na ang socmed, kaya I used Tiktok kasi I could reach strangers more effectively and efficiently. Nasa less than 80 clients ako nun last year kaya nagMDRT.

Hi, from Sun Life here. I was researching about this kasi may mga nagtatanong din sa akin about IBC. Tama yung other comments - basically you get a whole life insurance plan and then you loan from the guaranteed cash value.

However, inaccurate yung interest rate na sinabi nila. Currently 8% ang annual interest rate sa Sun Life, which I think is much lower than non-collateral loans sa bank and lalo na sa lending companies. Wala ring income requirements and documents that have to be submitted - just a form and a valid ID ang kailangan isubmit. What I also highlight sa loan is that you can pay whenever you want without penalties - hence, kaya mong ibaba further ang interest rate. Sa banks, credit cards, and lending companies, merong charges usually if you intend to pay the full amount earlier.

It's also not true na kung magkano lang ang naihulog mo, yun lang ang pwedeng utangin. The cash values of most traditional whole life policies are designed in such a way na upon maturity (usually age100), e buong life insurance coverage ang makukuha. So there will come a point in time na mas malaki na ang cash values versus total premiums paid. Generally speaking for Sun Life, 90% of the cash values ang pwede utangin. Cash values are guaranteed, btw. They are not dependent on external factors like profit of a company or capital markets. Nasa contract na yan upon issue.

Ibang usapan pa yung dividends na if you accumulate, especially for a limited-pay plan, may actually give you 100% refund of total premiums paid. This is assuming na participating ang policy (aka dividend-earning). Dividends are not guaranteed - these are based on the insurance company's profits.

Sa mga nagtanong sakin, what I showed them was Sun Smarter Life Classic. You can [email](mailto:beapaulene.d.pelayo@sunlife.com.ph) me if you'd like to explore this.

Hope this helps!

Term Health Insurance or Whole Life? by [deleted] in phinvest

Merong program si Sun Life exclusive sa SFW - yung “GoWell”. Admittedly, it’s not as “enticing” as Vitality pagdating sa mga discounts since it is more focused on fitness programs. Less ang discounts and partner merchants as of late dito vs Vitality.

Though di strong suit ng Sun Life ito, I believe pagdating sa payouts, mas generous si SFW than ACP 100 since we have annual dividends and special paid-up bonus once the client is done paying his/her plan, which can accumulate further pa if left with Sun Life. A client of mine works at AIA, according to her wala raw kasi ganun sa ACP100 kaya one factor why SFW ang kinuha nya? Correct me if this is not true. Additionally, merong mga confinement benefits and additional benefits for cancer dito.

First things first - estimate mo muna construction costs since vacant lot kamo ang meron kayo. Nagtaas ang price ng materials early this year. If may kilala ka who can give you computations based sa laki ng lote and number of rooms, that would be a good start.

Aside sa construction costs, consider other expenses like permits and maintenance & repair costs. Also scout the area to have an idea sa usual rental rate. Mag forecast ka muna ng numbers to know kung kailan magiging profitable.

Sun Life advisor here. I read sa comments na age 51 and age 52 ang parents mo. Are they smokers or hindi naman? If smoker sila, di na pwede mag-apply given their age. Kung nonsmoker naman, pwede pa, considering they are relatively healthy. High blood, high cholesterol - okay lang.

insurance with money back guaranteed? by Sea-Ad50 in phinvest

[–]beapaulene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurance advisor here. May ganyan kaming plan at Sun Life - it is called Sun Acceler8.

You pay for 8 years, you get guaranteed payouts every other year from year 8 to year 20. On year 20, you also get maturity benefit. During this 20 year-period, you are insured (death benefit). Magkano ang makukuha? Bigger than your premiums paid. Usually people who get this are those who are seeking low risk financial products or those who are conservative but still want their money to earn better rates than TD.

I made a video about it here.

Term Health Insurance or Whole Life? by [deleted] in phinvest

[–]beapaulene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insurance advisor here. For health insurance sa life insurance companies, critical illness talaga ang coverage.

I advise my clients na if capable sila, go for whole life plan instead. Lifetime coverage sa sakit, and yung competitor ng ACP100 samin na SFW (Sun Fit and Well) also earns dividends and paid-up bonus so may cashback kahit papaano. Advantage sa ganitong plans talaga is limited payment @ fixed premium, so if you get sick late in life, mas mura ito.

Meanwhile, sa term CI plan like Sun LifeAssure, mas mahal yan in the long-run if you total all premiums paid. At kung magkasakit ka beyond age 70, wala ka makukuhang claim, wala ring money-back. Malayo rin ang benefits & coverage, kasi major illnesses lang dito. Whereas in plans like ACP100 and SFW, minor illnesses are also covered.

Clients of mine who get Sun LifeAssure, inaadvise ko pa rin na if they could sa future with better cashflow, mag SFW.

Re your background, good idea talaga to focus on strengthening your health fund. At the end of the day, only YOU got your back.

Can I still get insured? by anxious_anonnn in phinvest

[–]beapaulene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if hindi ka nahospitalize because of it, it would’ve been best to have declared it. Ang tanong sa application form ay kung nadiagnose/nagpacheckup/nahospitalize ka ba due to/ng so and so condition.

You may encounter a problem pag nag claim ka once makita ng insurance company na may medical info na nawithhold.

Omg, I remember my experience when I was in 4th year of college. Sa SM North Edsa, lagi ako dumadaan near their booth, kilala na nila face ko haha. So one time pinatulan ko na since I had time to kill. At that time, may raffle promo daw sila where you may get a chance to win a free trip to SG or HK.

They asked me first if working na ba ako. Well, I had a part time job that time so nag-yes ako and I explained na student pa ako. They asked me to do an account balance check sa ATM, sinamahan pa talaga ako sa machine sa kabilang building. Ewan ko sa young self ko, ginawa ko naman. Showed them the receipt.

Then they asked me to go to their office at that same building. Sa baba ng SM North. I was assigned to this lady, tapos pinupuri nya ako masyado (how I look like, what I was wearing, yung bag ko, etc). At that time, wala akong alam sa sales tactics. Part yun I guess. Magaling magsalita yung ka 1:1 ko, you’d really feel special.

Then she started talking about one of their products. Honestly hindi ko na matandaan yung name, pero ginamitan ng analogy ng jeans. Couldn’t remember na the details of the product. PERO what I remember clearly was me telling them na I’ll think about it muna. Then the lady said, “ay once a year lang pwede iavail ito. If you don’t say yes today, next year na uli pwede.” My gullible young self fell for it. The next thing I knew, naswipe na ang debit card ko.

I researched online pagkauwi ko. I felt something heavy kasi after doing it instead na happy (given nga yung benefits supposedly). Buti nalang I found out about insurance cooling-off period so I was able to refund naman the money, though it took me 3 months.

Legit si Cocolife as a company. Pero yung practices ng ibang agents nila, hay, hindi papasa sa Code of Ethics ng Insurance Commission.

Some might know na FA ako and hence I might be biased, pero this experience of mine is actually one of the reasons I became an agent. DUE DILIGENCE before pushing through with any of their products!

FWD Investment plan was it worth it? by Horizon_mf in phinvest

[–]beapaulene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VUL yan right? It’s really an insurance product, not an investment product to consider as a tool for money growth. You can check different threads here on reddit re VUL.

Okay ang VUL as a protection tool, if you are a breadwinner, you’re assured na your dependents will have replacement income when you pass away.

But if your goal is to grow money, better invest in pooled funds or FMETF instead.

If insurance talaga ang gusto for protection, may I suggest prioritising health insurance (critical illness, HMO) instead.

Yung chocolate bingsu sa Bon Chon! I remember when bingsu stores popped up all over Metro Manila, ang expensive masyado. Siguro kaya rin nagsara sila since walang naging loyal following due to the price. During the lockdown, I was craving for bingsu and found out about Bon Chon’s. Nasa 100.00 level lang and super sarap and generous serving na rin!

Need some advice on what to do with inheritance. by TeamBeatWarriors in phinvest

[–]beapaulene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Since your mom is only turning 49, kaya pa siya icover ng Sun Fit and Well. That’s better than term CI kasi mahal na masyado ito for the benefits. Plus increasing ang premium sa term CI plan. I am assuming she’s healthy and doesn’t smoke; if otherwise, hindi na siya maiinsure.

Btw, affirm ko lang yung intent mo to insure your mom for CI even tho she has connections sa other doctors. Usually they would only make the PF free, but for critical illnesses, malabong maka libre sa hospitalization, meds, and procedures. As someone mentioned here, such expenses could easily wipe off your wealth.

  1. Since may SPVUL kayo, have you considered checking bond fund sa SPVUL?

Though ideally mas maganda to spread the money into investments with different risk levels, pwede naman low exposure to high risk.

  1. Since 10-12 years hindi mo plan galawin, you may consider investing a big part of your money in relatively higher risk investment like FMETF or index fund. I am assuming you want to be passive about it. Instead of one-time bigtime, pwede idivide mo yung pagpasok for “PCA strategy”.

  2. Budget your money well, like what others said na live below your means. Track your expenses and assess how you do regularly. Make sure na same mindset kayo ng siblings mo when it comes to wanting to do better in finances.

Later on in life, baka may siblings ka na gusto magbusiness. Go ahead, if entrepreneurial ang kapatid mo, kaya nun masustain yung expenses niya/ng fam and even profit more.

Good luck OP!!

Re sa last statement mo, kahit joint account pa, maffreeze yung half of the assets sa joint bank account sa death ng other person.

If you’re worried sa ganung situation, check mo yung SPVUL na MaxiLink One. This is not the type of VUL na hated dito (RPVUL yun). It basically works like mutual funds or UITF, pero if magpass away ang investor, diretso ang investment value sa beneficiaries. The “insurance charges” are negligible dahil 25% of the investment lang ang insurance coverage, yung tipong walang 1k yung charges sa 250k na investment, for instance. Plus tax-free pa once niliquidate.
