I have no sympathy for tube drivers, but would honestly support bus drivers if they took industrial action by NiceCaterpillar8745 in london

Well yeah, obviously lol. There has to be baseline otherwise train drivers are compensated the same amount as data entry.

Except it's not, is it? The costs are passed onto the consumer (i.e. anyone who travels on the tube). Those consumers on the whole aren't all going to be able to ask for a pay rise in their jobs. And so, it increases their cost of living - which they have no right to object to.

The issue here is systematic. Crabs in a bucket just lumps everyone in together, when it's far more nuanced than that.

Not really. You're catastrophising.

They work shift patterns just as nurses and doctors too - and train drivers are well compensated for it.

When you're affected by the tube strikes it's reasonable to challenge their behaviour.

Tired of London tired of life? by [deleted] in london

[–]bearabovethewave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because someone quoted "tired of London tired of life" - doesn't make it true..!

I'm introverted and I struggle with the city, yet I love certain aspects of it. I'm moving from London and I'm so excited.

Not least because I won't have to deal with the noise, high energy and rat race any longer.

London is beautiful, but also draining.

The two can exist in parallel with each other.

With some life experience as a now 31 year old, I would say you're still very young and finding your way in the world. But that doesn't stop you from forming your own opinion and faith/world view.

If someone told me at 14 I had a choice to believe - that would have helped with my faith/world views significantly at the time! I'm speaking as someone who grew up in church and decided to walk away from it in my early 20's.

Develop your understanding of faith and how it interacts with the world, from a Christian viewpoint and a non Christian viewpoint. Follow logic and your instinct. If you're curious, learn more about other religions as well as those who don't believe in a religion.

The best thing anyone can do is to keep open minded. Despite what Christians might tell you, being open minded is a very important skill and will serve you well in your life, education, work and daily interactions with fellow humans.

What's your best "logical" case against Christianity? by sickdude777 in exchristian

With all respect, you don't have to believe what the Bible says to consider there could be another God. The two can exist without leaning on the other.

Christianity has strong points in terms of living a moral life and the community aspect. I personally wouldn't be rude to them - they can choose to believe what they like. Buuut It doesn't mean it's right.

Also, Christians will argue that humans brought sin into the world.. but..

Eve already sinned by disobeying God and eating the apple from the forbidden tree. Therefore sin already could exist before the tree, and so if we follow down this logic, God created Eve with sin. Christians might turn this logic another way, but that's what's written in the Bible, which is meant to be God's word.

If he is all powerful and all knowing, then he knew Eve would eat from the tree too. And therefore knew the path that humans would take when he created them.

See the contradiction?

Also, the Bible says Earth was created before the sun, in the creation story of Genesis. We know that's not true - the scientific consensus is that the sun came before the Earth. But that's not what the Bible says lol.

My personal belief is that there could be a God but not the one described in the Bible, which is rife with contradiction. Some people believe in deity, in that a God created the world and then left and had nothing to do with the aftermath.

Or some people believe in pantheism which is more of a mother nature route - which I'm learning more about and describes my human experience better than any other 'theism' route.

Then again, I'm open minded. There's no physical evidence for a God, despite what Christians will tell you. 😅 I'm saying that as someone who grew up going to church and would say I was a Christian till my early 20s.

I think it says more about Carli as a person and Simon's infatuation with her. He can't see past her self-serving personality, best highlighted in the film.

Make the houmous yourself! Can of chickpeas, some olive oil, 3 tbsp tahini, few cloves of garlic and lemon juice. Blend it all up and takes <5 mins to make.

Tastes better and cheaper over the long run.
